93 Si issues.....motor is struggling to turn over.
ok..i tried searching this out..but the server was unavailable..so i appoligize if this might have been answered in the past.
I was on my way home from work...and i live roughly 3 miles form work...when i lost power steering and my battery light came on. I know that my belts slipped off due to the crankshaft pulley coming lose. It has happened in the past. well..i get probably 20 yards from my house and the motor jsut shuts off. I was able to coast to jsut in front of my house. well..i borrowed my neighbors impact wrench to get the pulley and the belts back on....the problem now is that the car wont start. It sounds like the motor is struggling to turn over. i checked the spark plugs...ther are fine...adn the distributor is firing. i have an idea as to what the problem i...but im hoping that isnt it cuze i dont have the money or the time to do that right now. My only thought is that it might be the timing. Anyone else have any input?

I would jump it before jumping to conclusions!! Then see where you are at!
Your stereo and lights will work long after your battery doesnt have enough power to start the car!
Your battery may be bad. If this happens frequently then it is even more likely cause as the belts slip your car will use the battery to keep runnin, then the belt catches and charges a while, then it slips again and your killin the battery. ETC. ETC.......
That is torture on you battery and will destroy it very quickly!

ok update on the situation! i got home from work today and was ******* with it a little more. i noticed that i had smoke coming out of the air intake(which is a CD Short ram) and i put my nose down to smell it and it smelt like gas. I have never had this happen or even heard of anything like this happening. Im thinking i might have fuel in my throttle body...would that cause the car to struggle turning over?

I don't want it to seem like I'm asking irrelevant questions, I'm just trying to cover all angles.
You have spark at the plugs?
The ground wire from the motor mount to the engine by the belts still connected?
When you tried to boost it off, did help with the struggling to turnover?
You said the crank pulley came loose, is the key still good or possibly sheared?

yep..all the plugs are getting spark. The plugs, wires and distributor are only 2 months old. Yep..the ground belt is still connected. and the pin for the crank pulley isnt perfect....but i tried starting the motor with the pulley off and i was still getting the same thing.
