Default GT35R surge problems on a b16?

I'm considering jumping up to a GT35R but have heard that they tend to surge a lot on small displacement motors. Any idea to the truth of this? and if it would be a big deal or not?

Also I am running a max-rev log manifold still and am wondering if the turbo would have clearance issues w/ the block.

There is the compressor map. Plot your points and find out.

we offer the gt35r with a compressor cover with a anti surge slot (ported shroud). We run them on 1.3 liter motors with no problems

also anyone have any idea on the fitment/clearance issues that the gt35r w/ a 4" inlet housing would have on a log manifold?

If you are trying to choose a turbo setup that best suits your needs, you must know how to read a compressor map. Don't go by what other people tell you is best. Plot your points on several different compressor maps and find the best turbo to fit your needs. Read this.

After you read that thread, if you have any more questions on how to read a compressor map. Ask.
