Hot S2K antenna tip...
Instead of using the PVC pipe, just use the original metal piece from your antenna. It comes right off the antenna, is already cut to the right angle and length, and holds much better under pressure. I guess the PVC pipe gives you more room to fabricate your stand off, but if you have the proper 5mm standoff, it fits perfectly w/ the use of 2 washers as shims. I will try to post some pics tonight so you can see what I am talking about.

You know I thought about doing that, too, but I just went ahead and used a piece of PVC anyway. The angle I cut it to was 18 degrees (using my dad's power miter saw), with 0 deg. being straight across (like a normal cut).
I tried that as well but my reception took a dump so I went back to the PVC pipe.

That's not good, do you think that's because of the metal on metal? l haven't hooked mine up yet because I am going to look for a signal booster at lunch. I will play around with the set up and see what happens. Has anyone else experienced this?

if anyone find a good signal booster let me know...my reception is sometimes clear --- but sometimes horrible.. depending on the cars next to me.

So I searched all of San Jose, and finally found a signal booster! Radio Shack on El Camino South of Lawrence has only 1 more in stock, they are $20. It looks painless to install. Radio Shack used to always have them, but I guess they are not going to be doing car stereo stuff anymore, so they are just selling out of what they have.
I will mess around w/ my setup tonight and report back if it is worth it or not.

could you install a small piece of plastic or a plastic washer to insulate against this metal to metal contact, so you can still use the integra oem tube?
I didn't really notice a reception decrease. May be when I drive far away I'd get the "hiss" sound occasionally, but that's very rare. Besides, I don't listen to radio that much either, lol.
Yep thats it, I think I will mount it next to my shift light
Owen - I am going to try that, probably use a bicycle tube against the trunk and plastic washers (in case you dont want the signal to even go through the metal piece.) I will also try boosted and non boosted signal.

as long as you insulate the metal piece it will work fine. the bicycle tube is a great idea since it's thick enough to NOT tear. My experiance with signal boosters is... waste of $20. The booster won't do you any real good in this situation since the metal piece is shorting out the antenna.

Yeah that's what Trey told me when I bought mine from him. He said he tried the antenna amplifier and it only amplified the static.
My reception sucks on all but the strongest stations, but I can't bring myself to go back to stock because it looks so much better.

OK, so I got everything working. So far, the signal booster is garbage, I cant really notice any difference, but I haven't messed w/ it too much yet. First I installed the antenna using the original hardware and metal washers. That worked, but my reception was garbage like people said it would be because of the signal not being a straight line to the antenna and causing interference. To fix that, I simply wrapped my stand off w/ electrical tape to insure it wasn't touching the shim, then used plastic washers. Here are some pics. That made my reception 10X better. No need for the bicycle tube because nothing was touching the metal shim.
Why don't you do a search? I already did. I searched antenna, s2000, s2k and NOTHING! Why the hell do you think I asked for a picture? "Do a search" That's the same answer everyone puts down and I'm sick of it. Friggin post a picture or don't reply! Damn!
FYI I searched S2K antenna in the archived topics, here is the firts thread that came up w/ pics....

I'm using a PVC setup, but what metal shim are you referring to? What parts are touching that don't need to be touching?[Modified by PatrickGSR94, 4:20 PM 3/13/2002]
