New 05 Civic SI
Im about to pick one of these up. Its time for a new car and its gonna cost me right about what i am looking to spend. I might get a used 04 or 05, but a semi local dealer quoted me a 17,800 out the door for the last remaining new 05 they have left. What would you guys do? Get a brand new one for that price? Or you think i can look around and find another new one for less?? Or get a slightly used one with between 3 and 15 thousand miles for 14k or so? I need some advice here peoples. Also any kind of feedback on this particular car would be great. I dont plan on any heavy mods, i found an rsx-s for about 15k with 60,000 miles on it and i loved it and it was perfect but i dont want those miles. And im not gonna spend 24k on a new car right now. What do you guys think???

wow, quickest replies ever, this forum must be a busy one. Yeah new is nice, but should i get a better mark down than this? 17,800 with tax tags and title included is the quote i got. What have others paid for a new 05?
bump. i need to know what i should pay for a new 05. I live in NC, and so far only 1 out of 4 dealers ive talked to have one in stock. Thats where i got the 17,800 quote complete with tax tags license. I think i should get a better price though.

When you take out tax and fees, how much are you paying for the car? At this late stage I wouldnt pay more than $16K at the most for the car. Tell them to also get you some good financing.
I have a couple of these cars, so I'll chime in here.
If you read the boards -- here and http://www.ephatch.com -- you'll see that Honda had a difficult time selling '02 and '03 EP3. Consequently, those years were heavily discounted (meaning they typically sold for something close to $16k, tax paid, out-the-door). By '04, however, Honda had cut the number of EP3s imported by half. So, the prices began to firm up. Still, the cars were sold well under MSRP -- meaning $17,5k or so, tax-paid, out the door.
So, you are looking at one of the last new '05s around. There are no longer any dealer incentives for the car. Add the fact that the new '06 Si is going to be a very popular car. So it's doubtful there will be any discounts from MSRP. In fact, they will probably be surcharged. So, a new '06 will probably set you back at least $22,500 and likely more. That means there is a least a $5k spread between the '05 Si and the '06, based on the price the dealer quoted you ($17,800, out the door). The selling dealer know this, of course, which means he really has no incentive to cut the price further
You need to decide if you really want an EP3. If so, the price you were quoted is "good," but not sensational. If you can get it for $17,500, tax-paid, out-the-door, you will have done well, <U>if that's the car you want.</U> Finally, were I the guy paying the money, I'd buy the new car before taking a chance on a used car with a ton of miles.

You'll be fine. It's a very nice, reliable car with unrealised potential.
Try to avoid modifications until you've driven the car enough to know what it is you want to change.

It's a dangerous game they play. They want you not to have your financing straight, they want to get you to fill out long applications, and they want you to have to wait in their building for long periods while they supposedly try to get you a good deal.
All this time you probably just have their coffee and doughnuts to live on...and that cycle of caffeine and sugar can be dangerous if they've misjudged their prey.
The customer can end up getting very, very grumpy instead of compliant.

if your not really going to mod the car, i whould get a rsx type s, its a far superior stock car, since your not going to mod the si much it whould be wiser to buy the faster, better handling, more luxurious car for the same money
you can find a 04 rsx type s with fairly low miles for the price your going to pay for a new civic si
if i were you i whould get the rsx type s, the si's are nice, but they seriously lack power, and torque and dont handle as good as a type s, plus they are ugly, but that last one is just my opinion

So far i like this car. My high compression b16 pulled hard at 6000 plus, this car pulls like that one did at 2500-3000. Torque is nice. Type S would be nice too, but id rather this civic than a high mileage type S. I test drove an 02 S and loved the car but not the price for a 4 year old vehicle.

hehe I'm in the same boat as you are. Been trying to find an 05 Si in Black or White, but so hard to find.
Anyways, I had pretty much the same question as you, with the EP3's being such an unpopular model and the new Si's right around the corner I figure the 05's are gonna be pretty cheap.
So did you end up paying the $17,800 for it?
