Engine oil and oil filter

Flush coolant (you do this anyway when replacing the water pump)

Replace cooling system hoses

Yes, I know. It's a REALLY good idea, for preventive maintenance, so that you don't blow a hose somewhere when you least expect it. Also, it saves some labor and coolant to do it when you're replacing the water pump. I think the usual service interval for the timing belt is appropriate for the cooling system hoses, plus if you do it at the same time as the TB/WP, it's easy to remember and keep track of the last time you did it. Oh, and they're not all that expensive, either.

(IMO replacing them should REALLY be in the recommended maintenance schedule in the owner's manual and service manual, but all it says is to inspect them.)

If you have no experience adjusting valves I highly suggest you do NOT attempt it, you can severly damage the valves if you make them to tight or to loose and turn the motor, bent valves will appear.

Rather have someone show you or watch someone do this procedure a few times to get comfortable with it, do not just jump in and try to teach yoru self.

air filter j00, check distributor timing, don't forget to replace all gaskets when taking valve cover of and use ultra gray permatex.. like already mentioned, its best to see somebody do the valve adjustment before doing yourself.. don't forget timing belt tensioner w/ timing belt.. some replace other belts along w/ timing belt.. myself, i'd rather wait until they snap or visual wear marks..

is it that difficult to adjust valves even if you have a helms manual?

well, i've done it, ive seen how its done once, i didn't even have the right tools.. but.. it worked.. you just have to make sure its lined up right, get the cleareances right and i have a good torque wrench to double check everything.. i went for mid settings so in case its too lose or tight it won[t be a problem.. i started the car and rightaway it was more quiet.. i'm not sure if i'll mess w/ timing belt at this point.

the tricky part is to figure out if its too loose or too tight, thats why its best to have somebody adjust it first, then let you get the feel for how loose/tight it should be to get the right reading. i haven't had that opportunity and would have completed much faster if i had

I think all Integra radiators give out where the metal and plastic meet. Might be good to have a new one ready. I'm pushing my luck with mine.

If you can't follow the very basic and easy to understand instructions in the helms for doing this, maybe you should take your car to Acura for oil changes too.

Hey man, relax, lets all remember the point of this forum is to help people out and enjoy our cars.

Take a shot at the valve adjustment; just follow the Helms instructions, take your time and be prepared to do it over a few times. I had never done it before and it is intimidating but I was able to get it done.

Search the board (archive posts) for some good How-Tos. I believe there was a good one by CSpeedRacing (??) on doing it for the B18C5.

doing a valve adjustment is easy when you have c-speed and helms and take your time!

You've probably received your service manual by now. Look in there.

If YOU followed the Helms to do it, you'd forget three cylinders, and have problems finding one of them.

Get 3 quarts but you will only use a little over 2. If you can use feeler guages then you can adjust the vavles.
