Default Custom Exhaust

I have been considering doing a exhaust system that comes from my down pipe, through my Cat, down a foot of pipe, through two straight flow mufflers making a less then 90 degree turn, coming out just infront of the rear right tire. It is going on a 1988 honda CRX Si, any suggestions or conserns please reply.

1. Why two of them?

2. If it is coming out right at the tire I see ground clearance issues.

Two of them because it would make it quiter and less suspecious to the police if I have a hollowed Cat.

i didnt like the idea of exhaust getting everything all grimy though

it would not be spewing exhaust into the cab or hatchback it would be shooting out the side. the tip of the exhaust would stick out about four inches or so. this would create good low end pressure and have a free high end flow, or atleast better then the one that is on there now. i have a drwing and sound clips but i do not know how loud it would be on my car with the hollowed cat and almost straight out tail pipe.

I have custom exhaust on my Civic and it's almost the way you described it. Exiting the cat, I have a fairly large resonator and then a straight thru muffler. Bends toward the passenger side but has a turn down before it exits the car. This is so freaking loud so I'm going to take off the turn down and go straight out or take the turn down and aim it at the rear tire. Actually, it's not that loud, it just resonates a ton so it's kinda painful. If this doesn't do it, I'm going straight out the back.

I think you're on the right track. If you exit the exhaust past the side of the car, you won't have the resonance problem I'm having. The only problem you might have is road clearance or rattling of the exhaust on the side of the car.
