Default I feel like giving up. (on my hmotors b16) need suggestions.

I have a 97 EK (hatch) with jdm b16a, raced my friends 97 d16 ex... with i/e. He beat me untill 3rd. I hate life. Ever since I did this swap I've had nothing but problems, and unanswered questions. I'm still shooting code 19... no Idea why, my top end is hitting vtec fine and all, but it just doesn't pull... at all. When the engine temp is cold it bogs/backfires/won't accelerate smooth at all. I live in florida so I mean its not like from the weather its anytime the motor is cold. Am I the only person who bought from Hmotors and has a shitty motor? I've done the following:

new dizzy
new plugs/plug wires
adjusted timing
cleaned IACV
cleaned entire throttle body
checked FITV, looks fine, not popping out or w/e
seafoamed twice
changed o2 sensor
tried a chipped p28 ecu in case mine was acting up

so far not much has improved. the only thing that helped was adjusting my TPS sensor a little bit. any suggestions anyone?

code 19 means you are using an automatic ecu.
sounds to me like you got wiring problems that are not related to the quality of the engine.

I called Hmotors, they said it was deff. a manual ecu, we tried the p28 my friend uses on his b16 also with no codes, still throws code 19. I'm using an EX wire harness so it should be fine, everything is plugged correctly as I far as I can tell.

I think my harness may be from an auto ex, would that matter?

I can't remember but I believe my friends who ordered a JDM B16 from HMotors received an auto ecu as well... can't remember. But the engine definately rips for a B16. So don't give up so soon.

code 19 means that the ecu cannot find the torque converter lockup solenoid.

Sounds like an auto ECU to me.

Which, consequently is mapped to use milder cams.

Like I said though I tried my friends OBD1 chipped p28 still no difference (he's running it for a b16a also). Pulled a little later, but not really quicker. I may try to get another p30 just in case but I dunno.

Which means exactly? That would be on the tranny right? I'm thinking of getting ahold of a 5 spd ex harness and trying that out... also I do still have the stock exhaust on still... but that shouldn't make my **** that slow would it? I mean slow enough for a d16 to keep up?

the torque converter lockup solenoid only exists on auto matic engines.

under 5500 rpm the d16 makes as much or more power than a b16....

No... the stock exhaust is not going to hold you back as much as you think on a stock engine.

You shouldn't need a new harness.

I'm not fully sure on this but someone will be... but does just switching ECUs reset codes? Perhaps you never erased the Code 19 when you used the P28.

The reverse lights situation may be different since the harness is from a automatic car, not sure. Even when Mike@TSR did my my swap he didn't even hookup the lights but its only 2 wires, I'll have to check what color they are.

maybe your friend drives better than you. NOT being an ***, but it does take practice.(I know this has nothing to do with the code.)

Where is rev limiter at? Doesn't the auto B16 ECU have a shorter rev limiter???

Have you tried a coolant temp sensor. also the single cam civic's are usually quicker until third gear

You my friend are def. running an auto ECU...I know, check my sig., You're wiring harness would have nothing to do with a CODE 19 because the ECU is the brains, and if that sucker isnt finding what it wants, then it throws a code...I got a manual ECU now and that code is gone...

if ur friends ecu u tried is definitely a 5spd ecu, then your car is either really unique, or your reading the code wrong

I just swapped my 93 gen2 teg's b18a for a jdm b16a gen2.
Is there black sut like smoke coming out your tail ?
I suggest checking map sensor vacuum hoses.
It's just a thought but don't give up .

if u swapped ecu's and it didnt fix it then isnt that obviously your harness at fault? since its from an auto ex?

if the ecu throws a code 19 it means the ecu cannot find the torque converter lockup solenoid. it doesnt matter what harness is on it or what harness is near it or what harnesses have been on it in th past or may be on it in the future.

code 19 means there is something wrong with teh torque converter lockup solenoid. which means auto ecu.
