Default polk or memphis

im trying to choose from these two: POLK AUDIO 180WATTS 6 1/2" DB650 2-WAY
or MEMPHIS M CLASS 15-MC60 6 1/2 in. Both sound like a deal. I just want advice in regards these two cause i just love the sound. Crisp, clear, and clean vocals. Im looking for 6x9s too.

Memphis Pros:
external crossover
50watts but will deliver
cross stitched material

Polk pros:
60 watts rms 180watts max
cool grill

Which one of these can u boost up the volume but with less distortion and able to hear the mids highs. I know the reciever has alot to do so for that said im getting my pioneer deh-770 this week . Amp im still deciding might go with memphis if i get the memphis speakers. In circuit city i heard the polk speakers with a pioneer amp and it still sounded real clear. i never thought pioneer amps could deliver. i had a ppi 4way but i burned it. Like i said im still debating. i hope someone from this board has heard both and can give me some feedback. Im sorry i dont want to go with a component dont have the cash. Thats what im just looking for right now. thanks!

Between the two I would probably pick the Polk's, and find a 60W rms into 4 ohms amp to run them.

That said, SQ from a speaker has more to do with installation of the speaker then the brand or quality of the speaker, [and before anyone jumps in and explains to me how a set of $200 speakers will sound better then the $39.95 no name brand] well daaaaaa, of coarse, everything else being equal it's a good bet the $200 pair will outperform the $39.95 set, however a properly installed set of "$39.95" speakers will outperform an improperly installed set of $200 speakers. 94

improperly installed? how many ways is there to install a speaker. Do u mean like to lower the ohms or tunning the crossover on the amp?

Yea 10watts sounds better but the crossover on the memphis did make a difference when i heard them on display at a local shop. Does anybody have experienced memphis?

some people don't take time to install the right. Loose bascket in the door. When this happens the speaker rattels around and you loose sound, Speaker not fitting the basket, When this happens the front waves of the speaker comes into contact with the rear causing cancalation. Make sure the speaker is sealed so this can not happen. Also dynomatt. it helps

The polks are definetely worth your money. I had Polk db's throughtout my old car and am moving up to PolkMomo's in my EM1, couldn't ask for anything better than Polk!

im gonna go against the grain here, but Memphis has done nothing but impress me in my experience. They are well worth the money and extremely well made.

im running the exact same polk components (db6500).

i listen to rap/techno/dance/classical. exellent speaker performace at low-mid level. however, when im playing it at 90% volume, it distorts easily. but then again, im running off deck power (27rms). im sure that wouldnt be a issue at all if your amping them.

overall, im glad i made that investment. i give it a 9.5/10.

thanks guys!

i can see some like polk others like memphis i think its just preference. Does any one had them real loud with a good amp with minimal distortion. I like it when a car stop next to me and u can hear everthing real clearly.

I have these Polks powered by a PG Octane R amp (75wrms per channel). Yeah, they will get loud and clear, but everything has its limits of course.
