Video - 4 laps around 2nd Creek raceway Bandwidth intensive
This is shot from the passenger seat of my car by my friends 15 year old brother. The quality is kind of low, but if you view it at 50% size it looks pretty good.
Excuse my bad driving....
Also the loud exhaust isn't by design, I lost two bolts to the collector on my header earlier in the day. I worked on it the day before, I guess I should have used locktite.
Here's the video: http://exorcism.phlebiacs.de/files/t...2/TypeR-lo.avi
You'll need the DIVX codec to view it, which can be found at http://www.divx.com

-Dave, who hasn't d/led the vdo yet but will try to later tonight.
You can only hear it when I first take off. From there till I pull off the track I'm in it all the time. My crossover is at 5000. It's kind of a slow track, the fastest I got was the top of third and that's on the back stretch after the S turns.
It sounds different with an open header than it does stock.
There was a BAD *** Porsche 911TT in full race trim there that day. He was passing bikes and Formula Mazda and Ford race cars.

Looks to me like you were running around 1:30, what is your setup aside from the SC? I've run this track a lot and with race tires, JDM rear sway, JDM FD, al fly, short gears, porterfield pads, and motul fluid I can run 1:24 pretty easily. Before I had the short gears I could run pretty consistent 1:24 or so.
As far as your line you should be able to stay flat through the S's, your slowing down a little too much for turn two and entering it too early, turn 3 looks fine, 4 you can take more speed and take a little later, 5 and 6 your fine, 7 you can take a lot more speed through, you really should only have to just lift not even brake, 8 is fine, 9 is a tough turn taken me a long time to get it down, getting the car to rotate really helps. Anyways I'm sure I'll make it out there sometime so if your goin let me know.

1st. Do not let passengers carry things in their hands! It's a good way to damage the equipment and yourselves. There is no substitute for a good instructor in the passenger's seat when you are beginning to learn.
Quite lifting for the back kink. I've been on 2nd creek before. That's flat out.
General comments:
You are braking early, which is fine if you're still learning, just realize that you can go quite a bit deeper. Quit braking on a diagonal towards the apexes. Brake in a straight line, at the very edge of the track.
Quit early apexing! You start turning in from a mile back on some of the corners, and there's no reason for this. Eventually, you should have your outside tires within a foot or less of the end of the pavement on the outside before you start turning in. Don't try this at speed. Slow down, drive right, then the speed will come.
You're coasting into some corners. It's either brake or gas. No coasting under normal conditions. That doesn't mean full throttle or full brake, but you should be on one or another.
Get your shifting done before you start turning in. All your shifting and braking should be done before you even so much as think about turning the wheel. Don't trail brake til later. Personally, I don't even trail brake anymore. It's a matter of preferance and car setup. Lap times will be very much similar.
Smoother on the throttle. You are late on pulling the trigger coming out, so when you do, you jump on it.
Anyhow, really, what you need is a good instructor in the passenger's seat. Reading my babble after the fact does very little good.

If you read the first post you would have seen this:
Warren - you've pretty much got it covered! hehehe Can anyone say "rev-matching"? PLEASE practice while you are driving on the street so that it is habit when you are on the track. Your clutch won't last long without it!
I'm definately sensing 4-6 seconds in driving line, apexing early, and not being in appropriate gear throttling around the apex - the R is one of the few great "throttle steer" front wheel drive cars - use it to your advantage!
Don't feel bad about any criticism....ALL great drivers know there is always more to learn! **BudMan is no expert**

It's only the second time I've gone out there. The first time I ran only about 15 laps and started having light detonation with the blower and had to stop. All that's fixed now, and I got to make about 40 laps during a half day session on Sunday. By the time I made that run, my brakes were fading pretty bad. I think the pads were still good, but the fluid was shot (I had to pump them to get them to work).

Thanks for the advice everyone.
As far as the passenger carrying things, I felt prety safe about it. He was strapped in and the camera was both strapped to his wrist and his neck, it wasn't going anywhere.
I don't take it personally. I'll be the first to admit I'm not that great of a driver. Hell I've been autocrossing for five years and only have one win. That was on a Pro Solo/National tour weekend when all the good drivers were out of town.

I was faster than a couple of C5 Vettes. Of course they seemed to have an aversion to going any faster than 60mph on the fastest point.
