Default whats the next suspension recommendation

my last seutp was ground contro and koni yellows but I dont like how there isn't that much travel on the shocks. so im just going to sell them for 600 both and get some real coil overs

i was looking into maybe the tein flex. any other recommendations?

this would be for street and HPDE events.

ive had tein ss and i like those but want something a little more track oriented

Did you try out the GC top hats for more travel? They would be a nice upgrade instead of having to go through the hassle of selling everything and buying something else.

If you havent, look into it.

how much more travel would that give me though. ill look into it though. a couple of people that have had the koni./gc with street setup blew the shocks out it doesnt seem to tolerate low drop with soft spring rates.

The GC upper mounts are supposed to give something on the order of an additional 1" of shock travel, which equates to even more wheel travel. I'm running GC upper mounts, and OTS Koni Yellows with 400/400 GC springs, and I don't think I've bottomed out yet, except possibly during a little off track excursion at Willow Springs (turn 5 pwned me). Also, because how the upper mounts relocate the shock shaft mounting point, you'll be running with more shaft extension at the same ride height, so there should be less chance of blowing them out...

GC stated it gives about 3/4" to 1" extra wheel travel, which is about 30% more since on a lowered honda there is only 3" max anyways.

but for full coilovers, i looked at Tein Flex, Tein RA, Tein SS and Buddy Club....I went with Buddy Club Racing-Spec.

robear has em for $1250 with pillow-ball mount - 5% for honda-tech members, so its a pretty good price. but robear and Buddy Club USA state the rates at 10K/6K. I got mine here in Toronto, Canada and my rates are 10K/8K. Buddy club also stated that you can go +/- 2K on stock valving, otherwise for a small fee they will re-valve them for you.

another option that is $1000 with pillow-ball mount is Buddy Club N+ spec

Tein SS - 448F/224R
Tein Flex - 504F/280R
Tein RA/RE/RS - 783F/559R
Buddy Club is 10k/6K which is about 560/340

what do low drops and soft spring rates have to do with "track oriented?"

low drop, maybe--even though i don't see a reason to slam a car for track use. you have to remember that roll center changes with ride height, and that lower isn't always better for better handling.

get that thing to a real ride height, get the top hats, and get some real springs. all of the mickey mouse JDM setups you find are going to be less appropriate on track than konis and GC's. The only ones i might take a chance on are the Zeal S6, the tein RA's, etc. however, at that point, if i'm spending 2000 on coilovers, i might as well spend a little more and get some 3011's.

the BC spring rates are a joke. if you go BC make sure that their rear shocks can handle more spring--bc you'll want some real spring rates in the rear. same applies for most of tein's lineup.

just to clarify, 8k is about 448 lb/in.

If you are on a budget, I'd also check out the PIC stuff.. Looking at their shock dynos and their different packages for each car, it looks like they did their homework. I'd stay away from the lower end Teins, as their F/R spring stagger kinda sucks.

oops, is was supposed to say 10K/6K, which is what Buddy Club USA is saying is their stock R-spec rate.
