Default power steering fluid

does the steering fluid have to be from Honda or can I use an alternative to fill my resevior to the top line. I notice during the cold it goes near the low mark but when its warm it goes near the top mark.

It doesn't really sound like you need to add fluid, but I always recommend using genuine Honda fluid. If that's not available, make sure the fluid you purchase says "For Honda & Acura" on the bottle.

100% agreed. Genuine Honda fluid is not expensive really, but if you do go with something from a general parts store, it will need to state, FOR HONDA or ACURA.

Not sure what the problem is though. It is normally not common for the fluid level to change that much from a tempature change.

If there is a lot of mileage on it, or maybe the wrong fluid was put in it at one time, it might be best just to drain it all, and then start over from fresh with new Honda OEM fluid.
