92 tegra shuts down...help
Here's what has been going on.... Started with tach jumping around..then car started hesitating when I accelerated....now when I am driving the car just shuts down all of a sudden. When I try restarting, you can hear ignition going, but not the engine trying to turn over. Does this make sense? Hope I described it ok. One more thing, had cltch replaced last week and a few weeks ago my son had someone screwing around and they removed the battery and reinstalled it and the car would not start..so they replaced the module in the distributor. help! FIXED!!! see my message thread

have you replaced the ignitor or the distributor and cap and rotor? my friends car straight died (shut down) on the highway while he was driving.. it would not start back up... those were his problems.. i havent encountered that before maybe someone who has a 92 can help you out.. but that was what was wrong w/ my friends car..
Update...I fixed the problem and car runs better than ever!!!! For those of you who encounter the problems I had (jumping tach, engine hesitation and engine shutdown), the problem was the connections on the igniter module. Took off distirbutor cap and sure enough the wire connectors were on but they were loose. Removed each of the four, crimped them with needle-nose pliers, put some dielectric grease on each one and re-connected them.....Bingo!!!. No more tach spikes, hestitation of engine shut-down...and car running as smooth as ever. Thanks to all. George.
