I think its a very good idea. Many customers of mine that are running in the classes mentioned want to run itbs, and would make more power in doing so. I am personally building a car for street stock and comp4 for this coming season, and would love to use a set of jenveys in my engine build. Allowing itbs would make for a more exciting class in my eyes. It would allow higher trap speeds and faster e.t's, all of which will bring a "SFWD/T4" appeal to the all motor classes.

At the very least i want to know the reasoning behind NHRA and NDRA decision to keep itbs out of the sportsman level n/a racing.

I would think for the same reason they don't allow water to air IC's in SFWD, just to try and keep it more street friendly. Not a whole lot of people daily drive a ITB car but it is done, just as the water to air is by some people.

I would say something needs to be done to bring out more cars.

NHRA wanted to start S/S to bring out more of a young crowed with cars they drive
everyday. When at E-Town broken axles was the norm. (My self included )
I think Drag Radials are for the street and slicks are for drag racing.
Everybody talks trash on street racing but they incurage it buy having a class on Drag Radials.

For the most part I think C4 is ok, I don't agree with all the rules but the cars that run fit the class for how I think it should be. It is a street class so how much do you want to inforce ?
If I said how I think the rules should be it would hurt one of my friends who is running the class next year.

richie why dont you trade timmy one of your manifolds for his itbs so he can give this up already!

personally i wouldnt mind seeing a couple things change in both classes but i still dont think that itbs fit in. for the 10-20 people across the whole country that this would benefit theres waaayy more potential competitors that would be intimidated and turned away.

i dont think that the racers with IM's would mind...because most of them feel that they can make more with an IM then itbs anyway...i feel that it would make the classes more exciting to watch

I don't personally think they should be. The majority of potential racers can't afford ITB's and don't like the idea of running them on the street. I am all for keeping the class as close to a true street car as possible. It is up to the racer to read between the lines to make it go fast, not allow parts to make it go faster.

Just to add one more thing, I don't want to see street stock turn into a little slower all motor class. I don't see a need to push low 11's or high 10's unless you are just making the power to get there. I would personally love to see NDRA tweak some of the rules to make heavy cars more competitive and get the class closer to more of a street car.

More exciting because of more cars not because of ITB's
If there was 6-8 more cars with that wanted to run 6 or more races than I would be all for it.

itbs i think is no good for comp4 i think nhra and nopi have 2 different classes , personely i like the nopi comp 4 setup , i just don't understand why they can't do what they did with the sport fwd/turbo 4 in nhra and do it with N/A cars ...but thats my oppinion not saying everyone else is wrong.

Something that a lot of people overlook, if BFG didn't come in the sponsor the street stock class, there would be no class. There is a reason it is a drag radial class.

Look at Loan, she went 12.1 and really not making a lot of horsepower as compaired to what I hope to make and what a lot of other people will make next year. The class will be in the 11's next year and that is on drag radials and no ITB's and still a true steet car class. I am not exactly sure why you would need ITB's or slicks, if you want to go faster, run all motor.

you are right thats what i have been saying if it wasn't for bfg..no class

so since this class as you say will be an 11 sec class next year how many people you think will be driving there car to the track and racing??? not alot cause thats what they wanted when they made this class

if it does become an 11 sec class it will see alot less cars show up,

i'm trying to compete in comp4 next year, and in some of the nhra events in SS. but if they allow itbs in the class, it will divide the class into two dominant groups. those running a k series motor with or without itbs, and those running a stroked b series motor with itbs! true there might be more people showing up, but the majority of those people won't stand a chance to win! so in other words, those people will not show up to the next event simply because they have no chance at winning! the class should be aimed at equalizing the playing field, so that driver skill/equipment reliability will be the key to winning! my .02c flame on LOL btw just look at it this way CDR didn't have the fastest car, but he managed to win four wallies. i would had been nice to see him, take some of that purse money home with him!

LOL that was funny. Im sure you probably dyno tuned it yourself right? So you would know.. Not making hp as compared to who??..... You? Your on a good one if you think that car isnt making a good amount of power. Not to burst your bubble but you dont stand a chance compared to a 12.1 car right now.

The k-series has opened a can of worms for all motor classes and it is going to do the same for the turbo classes soon. What I would like to see if weight breaks for non-k-series cars. Adding 50 or 100 pounds to my car doesn't make as much of a difference as if you take off weight from a b-series or even a sohc motor.

I think the drag radials are also a great equal. Everyone that I spoke with next year we all around the same 60ft. So, no matter the horsepower/torque, the 60ft was equal which is one of the first steps to creating a balanced class.

I was lucky to win the number of events that I did this year. I hope to have half as good a year next year attending every event, if I can get the money together. I also hope to meet a lot of you guys next year as well.

I am going off numbers told to me by Loan and Norris. I know where I plan to be next year and I hope that I will be making more power then they told me they were making this year. I am sure they are going to be making more power as well, so I still might not be making enough again. I was a long way off this year, I am the first to admit that. I was not racing for money or tropheys, I was racing to have fun and I was happy to win when I did.

In case you guys have not noticed, these "street classes" have already turned into slower all motor classes. The reason why they strarted these classes is because when import racing first started out everybody was going to the track, because everyone could compete and had a chance to win. Then things proceeded too rapidly and the average joe could not compete anymore with the big budget racers. That's when All-Motor started to blow up becaus once again the garage-mechanic could compete and win, even strive to set records. Then came along skunk and a few others and completly destroyed this class, forcing many to early retirement. This forced many to try to step-up their cars farther then could afford and what you end up with is many half-built race cars in many garages(including my own). When you went to the races you saw a pathetic event, Million dollar race teams, but only half-filled classes, because noone could compete anymore. Now in order to bring back some racers they started these "street classes" , but really all they are are "budget"classes. But the same trend is starting to take place, already people are not showing up in fear of not competing, or their car is not ready, when is a street car not ready to race? Pretty soon this will be just another race car class. Personally i think it already is.

11 are cool but 10's are better. BOTI and IDRC A/M street classes are where its at. No lame "true streetcar" excuses....WEST SIDE!!!!!!!

No disrespect to any SS compeditors just doesnt look like much fun to me...And yes i think they should allow ITB's and slicks and take about 300 pounds off the min weight. Because watching or even driving a 2350 lbs N/A tank on a street tire just isnt to appealing to the masses. Then maybe just maybe people will chose to watch SS rounds instead of the bikini contest
