Alright so I have looked and looked on google, home made turbo, and of course honda-tech for this answer but haven't quite found this same prob posted. I have recently switched out my obd1 distrib for a new one from the distrib king because the igniter went to hell and it started to thow cel 9 more frequently. Now I am throwing cel 9 for CYP sensor not working or disconnected. I have double and tripple check my wiring at the ecu and the distrib and still cel 9 is ever present. FYI I have modded this distib w/the msd box and coil. Anyone got any ideas?

 

Alright well after talking w/TurboEF9 regarding CEL 9 he suggested to me to look and see what the clearence was between the mag pick up and rotor shaft. I looked at my old distrib and sure enough the shaft and pick up were touching. So I took my new distrib and adjusted the mag pickup so that the shaft and pick up would never touch. After I put the distrib onto the head and fired it up, presto no CEL 9! If your distrib is causing CEL 9 try moving the mag pick up away from the shaft, worked for me.
