i bought a '98 ITR motor and the vtec solenoid had no oil pressure switch!! there is just a blank, non-tapped hole there. i'll post pictures in the next day or two.
has anyone heard of this? does the JDM ECU not use oil pressure to engage vtec??

preset VTEC engagement point. works just like all the other ecu's except oil pressure isn't one of the required variables.
i can't believe there are still people that don't know this. this has been discussed hundreds upon thousands of times in the past on this, and every other forum on the face of the planet.

well, gee. i guess i must have missed it. perhaps i shouldn't have wasted everyone's time... oh, wait. YOU clicked on MY thread.
i was told that it's because in the U.S., for emissions reasons, they have a pressure switch.. just another way to be sure it's engaged before the ecu dumps extra fuel. makes sense.
besides, it's a great diagnostic tool for us to use
