Default Question

Hi i have a 97 civic si non vtec is it possible to put a vtec head on it where would i be able to buy it junkyard ? will i have to change any other parts if i put vtec on my engine ?

please use the search, its your best friend and saving people time by having to flame you....

head swap as with any swap take time and money, you need to do your research or you can end up getting shafted like i did... i ended up spending approx $700 on my head swap (details in sig) but yea the swap i believe your referring to is the mini me swap and here is a link to get you started https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=554053

If you do a simple search you'll find out two things -

1.) you do not have a Civic Si. If you're in Canada, an Si is an Ex - read: with VTEC. In the States, an Si is an Si and we didn't have them in 1997.

2.) this is an incredibly normal swap

3.) there are 8 bajillion threads on this.

Yes, the SiR is the Si in Canada. Also, your car already has VTEC. The engine code is D16Y8, SOHC VTEC. Just because the valve cover may not say it doesn't mean it's not there.
