Default Newbie to Honda Tech \ Need Help

Hi Guys,

I'm new to honda tech. I have been referred by many people to this site as the # 1 site for hondas. I have an 02 Honda Accord SE 2.3L V-Tech. It has about 110,000 miles and was wondering where should i start on my car as far as upgrades. I'm just starting to make money so that i can upgrade it. Is that too many miles to upgrade on car??? It runs great and i bought a cheap intake off ebay and it improved my gas mileage a bit but now i'm wondering where i should go from there. I want to get up to about 205-220HP but i don't know too much about how to go from there. Please help.

Yes you can upgrade, but think before you jump, I have learned this hard way.

So can you do all your car works by your self or do you have buddy to help you?

Do you have lots of $$$?

Yes you installed a air intake, that’s good, now time to put one of those performance catback exhaust system, again here remember you will loose some low end torque due to less back pressure, yes you will have high end gain, but no much low end.

Ok go ahead and install that catback, now you must continue, upgrade header, cam, light weight pulleys etc.

Now you have some good power but not that much, now still thinking, oh man I want to be fast like this guy and that guy, then put turbo and plus other stuff, I don’t know about them, so I don’t talk about them.

So doing any of those upgrade is good, but now order to see you HP, you must stay on 3000 or more engine rpm, by the time when you see those horses, cops are behind you.

Thanks to Honda Technology – they made our ride so smooth, I like to enjoy my ride than, fast and furry. lol

Your car is 2002 accord ? so you got OBD2 ECU, now you will have to find a way to program that too. It dose most of the stuff by itself, but order to get performance you must have access to this ECU, oh ya guys will say convert that to obd1 then you will have emission issues and more (I have no clue) but if you want to chip your obd2, you must know how to know it or talk to a professional , again if you want to do this here is the link http://pgmfi.org/resources/FAQ/obd2.html

Don’t just listen to me - I am new in this game too; please talked to pros, I thought this might help you

Yeah, i have someone who can help me but i don't have access to a shop or anything like that. I have some money but i will need to be pointed in the right direction.

So ujhonda what type of ride to you have?? You sound like you been doing this a while. Also is 110,000 miles too many to start upgrading???

I installed that cheap upgrade but should i go with another intake by a known manufacturer??

Also, why install the catback exhaust now instead of afterwards when i have the headers and stuff???

Sorry such dumb questions but i really don't know what i'm doing.

110,000 miles is not to many to start upgrading. there are guys on here that have turboed their cars with 150,000 miles on them, running them at 8 psi. i have 160,000 miles on mine and i am going to start upgrading it soon.

I just did a search for "cold air intake" on ebay. It was only 30 dollars and was super simple to install. Make sure you put in the make and year of your call when you search though. It gives it a low growl, better gas mileage, and about 5hp gain.

dont buy performance parts off ebay. wat you pay is wat you get. those parts are so cheap and its not trustworth. but if you want to increase hp, besides intake header and catback. do internal work on ur car
