well... i was doing some early morning reading and came across this. Now i know that IHRA is supposed to allow the PRO RWD cars to run,but i don't know if these celicas mentioned are gonna be running a all motor pro stock toyota V-8.
Its possible since toyota has a push rod V-8 motor in Craftsman truck series for nascar
• Rumor has it that Toyota's foray into drag racing hasn't ended yet. From what we're hearing, there's a very good chance that Jim Dunn and Tony Bartone could have one next season. We keep hearing there could be a Toyota Celica in IHRA Pro Stock as well. That would be a good showing for the Japanese manufacturer if Dunn decides to head over to some IHRA events in 2006. (11-14-2005)

• A call to the IHRA technical department recently confirmed they are looking at the possible inclusion of the Pro Rear Wheel drive cars as part of their Torco Pro Stock division for 2006. The IHRA has hinted this could be a way to bring a younger demographic profile into the class as well as attract potential new sponsors. While the IHRA remains tight-lipped as to the chances of this taking place, sources indicate we could see a few of these cars on tour next year. It has also been said that V-6 participation will be limited.
As you will recall, the IHRA last introduced V-6 turbo technology into the class with Buddy Ingersoll in 1986. The combination was disallowed at the conclusion of the season when Ingersoll reached the final round.
Is it any coincidence this talk comes at the 20 year anniversary of Ingersoll's participation? If you are not familiar with this piece of history, we have it in a feature. "The day a V-6 ran Pro Stock."

Im I the only one that think this will have a great impact for those in that class capable of running with the IHRA and Other series. But BAD for the sports compact industry. After all When will these guys find time and money to come race with us if they are busy running bigger better events. NOPI and NHRAC will no longer be their priority.

that is a quagmire(sp?). i did think of that. What about the money and sponsorship just being plain better running with IHRA/Powerade. They could be sucked away from the Sports Compact schedule all together. I think they could even say to hell with powerade and just do IHRA depending on what the schedule is like. Hopefully it all works out to the benefit of import drag racing.

Guys just to let you know the Titan Motorsports team is going to be racing the complete NHRA Sport compact season regardless of what goes on at other sanctioning bodies.
From what I hear hartford has a Cobalt on order and will only be racing the IHRA series, we will just have to wait and see if this is true or not. Just like all the other rumors going around.

are you guy's going to be the only one's racing nhra i heard steph's not drag racing any more is this true. What about Ara is he racing this year with out a sponsor we will have to see what's going to happend this year in the nhra world
Hartford will be running full time at IHRA Pro Stock. Rumor has it, Ara will only run the dragster in 2006 while they build a new chassis for a Pro car, Steph will be drifting in 2006, and Vinny and his guys will join Titan and Scranton at the select IHRA events.
Remember, the last 3 are rumors.

I don't even think if you ask those individuals involved they will know
A finalized schedule is probably a month or so out as sponsorship and driver deals are finalized.
