Hello, new to the site....would appreciate your help with an issue I am having with a 1994 Honda Accord 4 cylinder w/auto. trans.

This vehicle has been well maintained throughout its life, yet over the last couple of months the transmission has been acting strange. Once it has reached cruising speed, it will engage lock-up but will then disengage lock-up about 10 seconds later and stay in 4th gear...it doesn't go back into lock-up again.

Furthermore, at traffic lights, it will start in 2nd or 3rd gear, but will then go to 1st after take off, regardless of throttle pressure, then go through the shift pattern normally.

Could this be solved with a tranny flush/fill? Would two or three fluid/filter changes solve the problem? ECU issue?

I would try the flush, and see if that helps. Use only Honda ATF Z1. You may also want to remove the lockup solenoid valve and clean the screen and blow out the ports. Just a suggestion. You may want an expert to confirm this, though. There are a few techs around here. One will see your post sooner or later.
