Default Owners with 160K+ miles What repairs have you had to make on your tegs?

hey,

Owning a high mile teg with 170K + miles I wondered what other owners with high mile tegs have had to repair on their tegs. Is there any trouble spots to look at for after certain mileage?

Please list your repairs on your teg that have happened after 160K and any trouble spots

TIA

do standard maitance aka

plugs
wires
distributor (cap rotor ignitor)
timing belt (if more then 7 cracks in 1 inch of belt)
water pump (if u do the timeing belt)
possible battery
possible alternator
all fluids
check axels for rips, leaking
fuel filter
check oil pan for leaks
check head, manifolds for leaks or bad gaskets

and thats all i can think of right now.

standard maintanence:

brake
oil change
filters
ATF
bulbs
plugs
wires
cap/rotors
T-belts
water pump
PS fluid
brake fluid
wiper blades
water pump

Non-standard:

AC compressor pipe
Door lock/unlock linkage
window rattle
trunk shocks
carpets

so far so good at 165k miles.

I had my last one for 296,000 miles. Other than the standard maintenence mentioned, here's a few specific things I had go out or wear down in the latter 80,000 miles of my ownership of the car:

-Headgasket
-Rear Trailing arm bushings
-Wheel Bearings
-Tie Rod Ends
-Catalytic Converter
-Calipers (Just need to be refurbed or rebuilt)
-Headers (Unless you're running aftermarket already)

Just my 2 cents...might as well check those out.

clutch
timing belt
water pump
thermostat
ignition coil/rotor
hood latch (that one was a real pain in the ***)
tie rod end
windshield washer pump (haven't gotten around to that one yet)

my ball joints need reaplacing, as well as motor mounts, axles. There are shorts in the wiring becoming more apparent (light bulbs flickering on and off behind the dash) Worn suspension bushings, my main relay went a few weeks ago, my second motor is about to blow. It is ticking really hard in the head, and I've already set the valve clearances. It's starting to burn oil again. The tranny grinds sometimes, and whines when you put it in first if you are moving. The coolant hoses are wearing out at an accelerated rate. It seems as if another one pops every month or two. My heater core said its goodbye a few months ago. So right this minute, I have no heat. So I have to replace that soon since it's starting to get cold in SC.

I'm at 217,000 miles. I'm planning on fixing the majority of things when I get my b20 shipped to the house. I am putting aftermarket mounts, and 300hp axles, along with a good clutch. I'm going to put new ball joints and tie rods/ends, as well as energy suspension bushings. I have to pull the dash to get to the heater core, so I'm gonna replaced the bulbs, and inspect the wires to the lights. So, I just gotta save some more cash, and I'll pretty much have a new car in the next couple of months or so.

So usually, when the car goes that high of a mileage and it just died, most of the time it can be revived by just dropping in a newer and younger engine?

Stuff I've seen go (all before or right around 100k [+/-10k]):

Mine:
driver-side front swaybar endlink
inboard joint on driver-side axle
battery
tie rods
leaky heater core

Roommate's:
ignition coil
seized driver-side rear caliper (ate the pads and rotor too)
ECU - failed #2 injector driver
clutch - popped out a couple of springs
leaky radiator upper end tank
leaky radiator upper end tank (immediately after selling the car and the new owner installing a higher pressure radiator cap)

After tearing my 140k dc2 apart to nothing i have seen alot of suspension problems:

all balljoints are bad
needs new rotors
brake lines are questionable
bushings are falling apart

other than that there isnt too much wrong

240,200 miles on my 92 integra gs-r. Engine runs stronger than some newer ones.

Just change parts as needed. No point in replacing if it aint't bad. but if you got the cash, then by all means.

So far I've changed:

upper and lower ball joints
tie rod ends
axles
power steering pump
belts
Knock sensor
O2 sensor
Ignition switch wires
speedometer cable
change the oil every 3000 with Mobil 1 10w-30 and Mobil 1 Filter
fuel filter
spark plug wires
spark plugs
distributor cap and rotor
spark plug seals and valve cover gasket
battery
shifter bushings
transmission axle seal
MTF Oil
radiator
thermostat
cap

And next things to do are:

Energy Suspension Master Bushing Kit
Timing Belt, Water Pump, Tensioner, Head Gasket, Valve Adjustment

Huh?? Timing belts should just be changed every 90,000 miles or less. You must be talking about the three Serpinitne Belts for the accessories. (Alternantor, power steering, ac)

Please correct me if im wrong.

Also to original poster, Ive heard most tegs need new Radiators since the orignal ones start to leak sooner or later. Hondas are hella reliable

If you take car of your car, then ur car will take car of you.

I bought my 91 LS with 168,000 on it. I am now at 204,221 and all I have had to do was basic tune up stuff, and fluid changes and she still runs strong...or atleast I think so for an automatic.

So far I changed on my 1996 GSR, had it for over 5 years.

Thermostat
Radiator
Brake Master Cylinder

I'm not going to list regular maintenace things like, rotors, distributer cap, fliters, etc.

Car has been solid as can be.

92 Integra 189,000 miles. Owned since 1996 & 37,000 miles.

Not counting general maintence items and upgrades:
- AC thermostat/control
- Radiator
- Radio lost sound to one side
- Master cylinder (@100K mi)
- Clutch (@150K mi)
- ECU (@185K mi)
- Ignition Module / Coil (@187K mi)
- Front UCA
- A/C idler pully

Some other stuff that was likely a result of upgrades or my goof:
- Axles (@100K) - 2" drop
- Frozen calipers - Didn't keep pins lubed
- Broke rear LCA bolts upon removal - Didn't use anti-sieze on bolts
- Tie rods - hit curb in ice storm
