Default Do I need an alignment after installing shocks...

I have a 97 civic coupe and need new shocks. The car has been lowered for 3 years now. I'm only installing shocks so my theory is that since it's not lowering or raising the car, why would I need an alignment? Also I've heard that some shocks are shorter or longer than stock so it can affect the height. I'm looking at KYB AGXs or Tokico Blues. HELP!!
