What should i do to my GSR HATCH?
hey i got a gsr hatch, but i'm unsure of what mods to do to the motor? right now i have a dc header 4 into 1, intake (not sure what brand), and thats about it. i wanted to do build my motor up but not sure what to do yet. any suggestions on what parts to buy and install? lmk thanx
1. what is your budget?
2. what are your power goals?
3. NA or FI? (or doesnt it matter)
Start with the first question and answer them in order as they in some ways determine what you might decide for the question under it.

budget is whatever i can come up with. i have a steady job now but i dont want to go to extreme and buy all the top of the line items. and my power goal, run a low 13. i want an all motor car. thanx slow ej8
I am not too familier with the GSR motor and how much NA build up potential it has. Not saying it doesnt but I am not familier with it. Have you run the 1/4 mile in the form that it is in now?
To add to the NA build you have now add in some cams, maybe a new intake manifold, and some type of engine managment (of course a tune with that). Also noticed you didnt have an exhaust already, you could add one of those. Like I said I dont have much knowledge about the GSR motor so hopefully others will be able to jump in and help out.

yeah i was alraedy thinking about purchasing the skunk2 intake manifold. but didnt think about chipping my ecu. what do you recommend on chipping it???

The Skunk2 IM has some issues on matching up correctly. What would chipping his ecu do for him?
If you're looking to go all motor, you can start with a J's Racing Intake (carbon fiber) aka "Whale's *****" and you can stick w/ that DC 4-1 header for upgraded power in the upper RPM band. Also, I personally like the Apex'i N1 exhaust. If you're a big time spender, you can always spring for some ITB's

you need to rechip the gsr ecu to run like a itr or b16a single plane manifold w/o the butterflies and so vtec kicks in at the right rpm.

i personally went with the intake mani from professional products. AEBS designed it with Honda to work amazing with vtec. i have never heard a bad review of it and it matches up perfect. no problems and it looks nice.

Here. You want to know how to pull low 13's in a GSR hatch? You have two options
Option A.
1.) drag slicks. If you want to run 13's NA without completely rebuilding your engine, you want drag slicks.
2.) valvetrain upgrade and big cams coupled with an appropriate intake manifold and adjustable cam gears. A better header and a true 2.5 inch exhaust will help significantly as well.
3.) Hondata tuning on a dyno including wideband readings.
Option B.
1.) drag radials. These are not slicks: they can be run on the street, are much cheaper and give you a substantial portion of true-slick performance.
2.) 85 shot of Nitrous Oxide.
3.) Hondata tuning on a dyno including wideband readings.

If you have another car(daily driver) you could send the head to DPR for a stage 6 head job.

what year hatch are your running it in??? Slicks will drop your times easily... some hondata tuning, and b16a pistons, balance crank and rods, type-r valves, skunk 2 stage ll cams, valve springs, retainers, whales *****, exaust
but dont forget the free stuff............................................. weight reduction succas... gut your **** out... good luck and keep us updated on what you plan on doing.

shut up
to the op, i think a lot of people have over the top expectations of gsr hatches, i know i did. i have a skunk mani, stock p72(
) 4-1 2.5 collector header, 2.5in catback and aem cold air. and i did 14.4, do be fair my launches sucked, i had all season tires, and the stock p72 dosn't work well with my setup(got a chipped p28 waiting for dyno tune now). but i really expected it to be faster. If i were you, i'd get some easier to attain goals, and take it step by step, dyno it, and take it to the track, and figure out what you need and take it step by step, it always seems to work better that way

why not??
i would do a set of cams, intake mani, cam gears, valvesprings, retainers, maybe thinner headgasket to bump up compression a little bit(unless you just wanna get new pistons and rods, then i would do a stroker kit).
itb's are expensive and require extensive knowlegde to tune correctly as well as programmable engine management which can also be very expensive.
but hondata s300 is somewhat affordable and looks to be a viable option.
good luck with your motor man.

dont think his car is quite at the stage of needing a s300... a s200 will do you great and you still have more room to build on it. mabey even an s100 depending on what your end goal is
