So I Bought a Track Car - Part ??? (VIDEOS)
Took my CRX (200 WHP b18c swap) to Rockingham a few weeks ago and had a blast. I miss my E46 M3, but selling it for a track car makes too much sense. The CRX is ridiculously cheap to take care of and if I dent it, no big deal.
In my past two track events I've seen 4 cars get bit:
-350z into a tire wall at Road ATL (minor front bumper cover damage)
-Carrera GT3 into a concrete wall at road ATL (major front end and side damage)
-350Z into a wall at Rockingham (seriour rear damage)
-Integra into a wall at Rockingham (totaled) - This one happended right in front of me!
Now for the story:
My brother and I arrive Fri at Rockingham and decide to go next door and have a little fun at the drag track (he has a Dart block Civic). They were running top fuel drag cars and the track had a serious coating of whatever sticky compound is on those tires. I had so much wheel hop on one of my launches I had to let up or risk shaking my car apart. My brother was not so lucky. Video here:

So I get to run on Saturday with the green group (beginners). This is my 4th event, but I guess the intermediate group was kinda full. I was happy to immediately notice a difference between me and most of the green group. I guess this means I am getting better
I was quicky passing many M3's, Gen III RX-7's, and other serious performance cars. The CRX handles great - like a go kart. Pushing through the banked oval at more than 100 MPH generated some serious G's. I have more respect for those NASCAR racers after being on that track. Video from Saturday (Kinda low quality and it was tough to get a good vantage point):

While I was on the track my brother pulled his tranny, and we went to RLZ in Concord that afternoon to get it fixed. By midnight we were back at the track and had the tranny in the car. We got some sleep and the next morning my brother finished putting his car together.
The Sun. morning sessions were OK, but my tires (Azennis') were getting too hot and it felt like I was water skiing around the track on melted rubber. I had too much air pressure. I let out some air and was ready for the last session. After about 3 laps into my last session I saw the yellow flag. I looked ahead and saw my brother had run off past the cones onto the paved track at turn 1. He was making his way back to the track and for some reason some of the drivers weren't just slowing down, but breaking hard. The Integra right in front of me locked his brakes and spun into the wall. Looked like a nice enough car to be his daily driver - that's gotta suck. Anyway that ended the weekend.
This winter the CRX will get an RMF header, roll bar, and some body work. Anyone know where I can get a good camber adjustment kit? I can't wait for spring!

Neat looking car. Sounded great at full throttle. I was working at 3 on Saturday, and 4 on Sunday; got a couple of shots of your car. Which way are you trying to go on camber? Check http://www.specprod.com
Thanks for working the event, it was a lot of fun. I'm already dying for Spring. Post any good pics you got - I'd love to see them.
As for a camber kit, I'm looking for something that will let me adjust between 0 to -3 deg easily. I don't trailer the car so I'd like to be able to set the camber for zero on the highway, and then quickly dial in some neg camber for the track w/out messing up my toe in/out.

changing camber will change toe a lot. adding camber will give you a lot of toe out, taking it away will give you toe in. really it's a collosal waste of time to change camber for street/track. for one, tire wear doesn't accelerate much with camber provided your toe is set to zero. even then, a light car won't eat the tires very quickly either. i street drove my race car for several years. i logged about 25k miles on a set of falken azenis with -2.5* of camber and 1/8" toe out on both ends. that's more then enough mileage out of a soft compound tire with a no compromise alignment.
