I currently live in Germany and have been looking at the 2005 Civic Type-R here, or buying the 2006 Si and having it shipped over here.
I can't decide which one to get the prices are around the same ballpark
Comments on both these models will help me out alot

i wouldnt really ask a bunch of people i dont know personally. but hands down id go with the new SI. i think it is a way better looking car than the CTR hatch and i love the interior of it also. i dont know the performance differences, but the difference in looks alone would decide for me.

Shipping for a Si to here is $600.
But, I'm leaning more to the CTR because when I come back to the states in a few years i can bring it back with me.

What is it that you are going to be doing with the car?
The FG2 Civic Si chassis was deliberately improved to address the issues presented to Honda by people who did not like the on-track performance of the DC5 and EP3 chassis. However, it's an unknown quantity as far as how excellently it works bouncing off the gaters without breaking anything.
If there is any unusual difficulty for you in getting an FG2 Civic Si in your market, then to be honest I would just go ahead and get the EP3 Civic Type R.
If your market does not have a Torsen axle option for the EP3 Civic Type R, then I would seek out the OEM Honda Torsen axle and spend the few hundred dollars for it. That's the only change I would make if the car's a daily driver.
The EP3 CTR is just so very weird and unpopular, I can imagine that you'd be tempted to buy one just for the kitsch value.

As What I'll be doing with the car I'll probably try to keep it stock. Because of the car that is being built in the states is the fun one and depending on the car I get over here will be my daily driver. So I'm leaning more to the type-r but I just wish they came in CW over here
Now here's a question.
Were these same chassis improvements ported-over to the lower end FG1s?
To keep on topic, being that I've owned an EP3 CSi here in the States, I would jump at the opportunity to grab a Type-R.

published times for the new si's 1/4 mile suck just as bad as the ep3 over here because the fg has so much weight or something.
i believe it was in car and driver or something.. dont quite remember.
ep3r looks bad ***. i dont like the new si overall.. although i like many features it has. plus, the new FG body will be on every freakin civic out there.. and since "so many people" love the new civic.. imagine how many of yourself you'll see. i say go with the ep3r or dc5r. but thats just me.

I'll probably picking up a EP3 R after I get back from Vacation to the states.
To getting a DC5 R I would jump on that if there were available here

both automobile and road and track tested the new Si and have gotten low 15's.
my opinion on which car to chose would be biased, so i'll just leave it at that.

Did you already test drive the EP3 Type-R? Where are you located exactly?

If you want to buy a brand new CTR you should hurry, I guess they will be sold out soon.
Si Centrum is a nice place to live...
