Default H22 In An Accord

Hi,

I'm going to be purchasing an Accord and I would like to eventually stick an H22 into it. Anyways, I live in California and we have that really crappy law that says the engine has to be the same year as the car or newer (Is this correct? Not sure how accurate it is.) and was just curious, what was the last year that they made H22's? Or do they still make them?

Thanks.
