body kit troubles
here is the deal,
a friend asked me if i would do a body kit for his car once he decided what parts he wanted to use. Well, finally got around to it, and he told me he was shipping the parts here, no problem yet. I assumed that body kits were "bolt on" parts. I guess i was wrong. Today arived his sideskirts with exhaust openings. This is for his mustang conv. Nice looking but a few catches.
--no mounting holes.
--new real instructions provided. Only thing provided was a recomendation for what adhesive to use as well as something called a fastener sealer.
--in the box came self-tapping screws with some homemade 90 degree brackets.
Also mentioned was to specifically paint after installing the part onto the car. Is this important?
--the reason i ask is because my buddy is only home on the weekends and cannot be without a car so being able to have them painted during the week and us install them in the weekend is a key factor.
IS this typical of most body kits? Is it possible to do without out perfessional assistance in the install?
anyone that has experence with body kits please speak up on this one.

installed the kit recently.....on my civic ex coupe. (wingswest)
Very simple. You need a power drill to drill the holes u need. line it with the stock screws....and bolts right on and use adhesive for more caution. the front i had a prob becuz the crash beam was in the way which made it not fully mounted, but i bent them to make it fit and its now fine. Side skirts took less than 1/2 hour. But if you plan to get them painted, then u mite as well tell them to install it. Mines came painted already.

finally found someone that isnt gonna charge me 200 bucks just to paint side skirts. I think i will be going to him. The kit still sounds tricky but im gonna try it.
