Default Defi D-Gauge owners, i need your help **please look**

I just recently purchased 2 Defi D-gauges from Evasive Motorsports ( ) along with 2 52mm meter cups and mounting hardware

When looking at the back of the gauge there are 2 long studs that stick out which i have no clue what they're there for, but they are there. However there is no holes on the meter cups to allow these studs to remain while the gauge is mounted in the cup.

So i am wondering how did you mount the gauges with the studs (what did you do with them, cut them off or drilled holes in the cup?) and if not, did you cut them off, and if you did cut them off, were there any rattling because of the head that is still stuck inside the gauge?

TIA

I have Defi D gauges in my R. However, I used the Autometer guage bezel to mount mine. The 2 studs weren't a problem. Which munting cup are you talking about? My gauges didn't come with them, were they a seperate purchase?

I'm using the defi mounting cup and mounting hardware (Part# PDF01903G) I had to buy these separately as the D's don't come with any mounting hardware

so did the 2 long studs fit fine into the autometer cup?

Well, you saw mine Alex. They fit fine in the Autometer cluster bezel. My set-up is the same as Opie's. I'm not sure about the Defi cups though.

Where are you putting the gauges? Dash? Vents?

Those cups look great. Mounting the gauges on the dash will look awesome.

Judging from your pics, those bolts look useless. I'd say dremel them off so the gauges fit in the cup. I don't remember those bolts being on the back of mine though.

it looks like the studs are just threaded into the back of the gauge. have you tried backing off that locknut? you might be able to double-nut the end of the stud and simply thread it out.

I agree, from the pics it looks like you may be able to double nut them to remove them.

I've actually tried to disassemble the gauge to remove the stud. However, i could not detach the gauge from the plastic screen up front without alotta force.

so yeah, i've also took off the nut and realized that its a screw with a nut on the outside holding it in place so it doesn;t wiggle

Alex,

Thanks for the purchase. I didn't even bother to think about that as a problem. I agree with most of the guys here, you can just cut off the portion of the stud that is sticking out. I don't know if I would really try and open up the gauge, not a good idea if something were to go wrong. Everything looks good though, post pictures when you're done mounting them!

I had some autometer guages with those same rods sticking.

A big pair or wire cutters handled the job quite well.

ok, i ended up hacking them off, but ran into fitiment issues. The guage doesn't sit all the way into the cup as the back of cup has a indentation. But i'm not bothered by it. i probably super glue it or something.

I've already hooked up the sensor wiring, just gotta do the electrical wiring. I've read 92typeR's thread and will looking to attempt his wiring schematic
