Default Boss hits my bike with truck while parked at work! :UPDATE 12/5/05:

:UPDATE BELOW:

So Im sitting at my desk when my boss walks in looking like he just **** a golden twinkie and
says, "I just tipped your bike over, sorry."

I cant believe it. The one day I dont park it in our warehouse he creams it. So I walk outside and sure enough there she is laying on her right side.

Damage Summary:
Rashed RS bar end
Rashed brake lever
Rashed RS mirror
Rashed exhaust
Rashed RS front turn signal
Rashed RS footpeg
Bent RS passenger footrest
Slightly rashed RS lower fairing
Slightly rashed crankcase cover and bracket/bolts
Slight scratch on left side of tail section (where his truck hit it Im assuming)
Small scratch on frame where braket of no cut slider moved up due to impact

Basically cosmetic damage but you can imagine how pissed I was. Anyways my Boss told me to get an estimate and he would take care of it. to him for at least owning up to his own mistake. I mean, he could of just moved his truck and never owned up to it, that would be teh suck. So I guess Im off to the stealership to get an estimate today after work. Hmmm, I think Ill take it to the most expensive place I can find. That way when I get the estimate back it should be around $2000 -$2500. If I take that money and buy aftermarket stuff and do all the installation myself I believe I might be able to come up from this weak situation. Optimism baby!

Ill post pics when I get off.

Lessons learned:

1) No cut sliders are the suck

2) I have a Termignoni Ti slip on exhaust I'm looking to sell

1) Yes they are. I will be replacing these 1st thing, and going with the Graves ones.

2) Good luck with the sale! I think Im leaning towards the CF Akrapovic though. Do you have
pics?

Just a thought here - if yer boss was cool enough to man up to what he did, why burn him with a ridiculous estimate?

Seems to me that you'd get a parts estimate as reasonable as possible (maybe just parts and do the repairs yerself).

Remember : Karma is a real ***-kicker that never seems to forget and bein cool bout the whole thing can only help somewhere down the road with yer boss too.

Your right. Your totally right. I am a firm believer in karma, it just so happens I am a firm believer in Akrapovic exhaust and CRG levers too! But seriously, OEM parts are probably just as if not more expensive then aftermarket ones right? I plan on doing my own labor either way so I will try to keep the costs down for everyone involved. Hey maybe it will end up costing less going my route. I appreciate your outlook though dude

I was going to get the CF akra but then I realized I would just end up ******* it up at the track. The termi looks like Ti exhaust in a box . I ordered it the day before my bike was stolen and it's been sitting in my room ever since.

Although that does suck, it could be a lot worse.

to your boss being cool about it.

I couldn't justify spending $ on a Termignoni for the streets. Unless I was a competitive racer or owned an exotic bike

Word up. When he told me I was imagining the worst believe me. It just sucks cause I wanted to be the one to expletive my bike up, not someone else. At least that way it could be something I could learn from. This situation just taught me to always pull it into the warehouse!

going for a high bid wont screw over his boss, it will just make his boss's insurance company pay more, unless hes settleing w/o insurance.

btw, can you take a picture of what a persons face looks like right after they **** a golden twinkie? im curious as hell.

hhahah that golden twinkie thing made me spit soda on my monitor!!

try powersportspro.com for parts prices before you head to the stealership.

It's sad to see you have a brand new bike, they're never the same after something like this happens even if you repair all the damage.

yeah, that's not damage. plus if you come to work w/ aftermarket parts, like a pimp exhaust, your boss is going to notice. (in theory). if he's straight up replacing all those plastics/parts technically the "damaged" ones become his and he (or you) could sell them for a decent price to make some $ back, b/c like above, it's not that bad AT ALL. the first time u scratch a bike is always the worst ... it adds character

I would just ask for a raise instead - those damages are EXTREMELY minimal -

Meh! I know the damage is minor but this thing is my baby! First vehicle I bought outright on my own AND its brand new. Like I said if I was the one to dump it I would consider myself lucky to escape with such minor damage, but this wasnt my fault. Whatevers, Ill get the estimate today and see how Ill proceed from there.

Your baby or your job? Dude has a point when he says your boss is going to notice all the aftermarket ****. Sure, he fucked up, but if you plan on sticking with your job, my recommendation would be to not screw over the guy who pays your salary.
