Default b18a1 block...

ok i have a b18a1 block, just took off the head and found that there is some rust on one of the cylinder walls... looks like surface rust only... also, the cylinders are black and looks like there is some oil residue in them... is this normal? the head had 2 bent valves and the motor has been sitting for a little over 1 year... i was wondering if it would be alright to polish the walls myself and bolt up a new head and run it... because right now i just want to get my car running... i currently have a b18b1 with a dropped cylinder in my teg right now... let me know your thoughts and opinions on what i should do! thanks!

Before you do anything else, disassemble the lower-end and take all the parts down to a shop and have them drop it in the hot-tank for you...that'll get all the crud out...also i'de recommend getting an oem honda gasket hit (should be relatively cheap) and bolt on a new head.

Get the cylinders honed, otherwise you risk sealing problems.
