my friend did a swap halfway and bailed on me..left me stuck cuz he's "busy". 96 hatch with a 99 b16a2 swap. did power floor & dash harness also for power doors and 99 center console change. checked the ground in the engine. one going to the near the valve cover. one to the thermostat, and one to the tranny. (am i missing one) Car will crank, but won't start. no spark. (replaced the dizzy, but no go) Also when i turn the key. the guage cluster lights won't turn on. but the hazard light works and the windows didn't roll up(did i not ground a wire under the dash?)...these plugs are plugged in either. i dont know where they go. any help appreciated...i need to get this thing running. it's been sitting there for over a year now. If anyone is around the philly, pa area, and would like to give it shot, please pm me. I will pay you for you time.

wow I dunno what of those interior wires are but if you post up pics of the swap and give some more info on the wiring to the motor we might be able to get you running...

the fuel is running. the ground to the thermostat is checked. i'm thinking its a ground behind the dash. can anyone tell me where they are located?
what are you using to crank it over as far as battery? you said the car has been sitting for a year, so i assume you have an external battery hooked up. if the battery is connected with jump cables, the car may not start but the starter will crank the engine. try hooking up a battery directly. if this is not the problem, try spark. you said there is no spark. did you test with a spark tester? if there is indeed no spark, then look into spark problems.
i assume you already checked for compression, fuel pressure.

i replaced the sparkplugs with brand new ones. i even replaced the plug wires. as far as battery goes, i pulled it out from my civic which is a daily driver. i also have a battery charger, that charges the old battery over night. tried both battery, no go. can someone local help me with this? it's been over a year the car has been sitting there
There isn't a ground under the dash that would prohibit the car from starting. Are the injectors firing? Can you verify? Use a multimeter? You know how? That is a good place to start. Since you replaced the dizzy, I doubt ignitor or coil are the culprit. I imagine you have triplechecked the engine timing right? The only grounds you should worry about that would prohibit the car from starting would be the thermo, main grounds. I have started my cars with just the thermo ground hooked up. fuel timng spark are the only things you need. get these and you have a running engine.
if you directly connected the battery from your running civic, we can rule out battery problems. you said you replaced the plug and wires, but did you do an actual spark plug test to ensure there is spark. the best way is to get a $5 spark tester and look with your own eyes for spark. just because you changed the plugs and wires doesn't mean you have spark.
check for spark. if you have a spark then report back.

there was no spark before AND after the spark plug change. a friend of mine stopped by, and tested the dizzy, and said it wasn't putting out voltage either.
dude. seriously, you are the biggest moron. if there was no spark to begin with then how do you expect the engine to start? why are you telling us about grounds under the dash and ****? why don't you take it one step at a time. your telling us about changing consoles and lights not functioning. who the expletive cares about that ****? shouldn't the first question be about how to get your none sparking engine to start? you confuse **** all up by trying to get your car functioning 100%. do you think you will get all answers off one post? this **** pisses the **** out of me. when i ask a valid question, i rarely get a solid response back. here you have many replies with people trying to help.......all in all, go expletive yourself. no wonder it's hard to get good advice from knowledgeable honda techs. it's because of *** holes like yourself.
your the damn problem. you got nearly 1000 posts yet you have no idea how an engine works. obviously you need spark for the engine to work. your initial and main question should be, "i replaced my wires and plugs, but i have no spark. what should i do next?"
