Default Rebuilt Title R question

I'm looking at a Rebuilt title type R in Jersey. If I register this car in New Hampshire does the title become clear, or stay rebuilt. I may just be back in the R family, but I need a little help on this, I'm unfamiliar w/ the rules and stipulations regarding titles. Any input is appreciated, especially from those who've dealt w/ it personally. Thx -Ryan

Unless there's some loophole you can climb through it will still have a rebuilt title. When I bought my R, it had an Indian Reservation Florida salvage title, but when I applied for a title in NC I got a clean title. The DMV explained some loophole involving Indian Reservation titles, but I can't remember exactly what it was.

You definately wont have a clean title, and even worse, it may have a salvage title that you'll need to change to a rebuilt title before you can register it. There is a much much more thorough inspection that you need to go through if you bring a car that once had a salvage title into a state, so just make sure the car is in tip-top shape.

It will stay a rebuilt title; my mr2 stayed that way when I registered it in NH. No reinspection or other bs is necessary if it is an R title already though which is nice.

It varies from state to state. NJ I believe you can "wash" titles. In NY don't even try it. A rebuilt title will be branded for life.

I'll just use my situation as an example-

I bought my Type-R with a rebuilt title from Connecticut.

When I brought the rebuilt title to the DMV, they saw that it was a CT title and told me to go to "Salvage Department" so that it could go through very thorough inspection and then it could get a NY rebuilt title.

Luckily for me, the car was originally rebuilt in NY and already had a rebuilt title here.

Pick and choose what info you want to listen to in this thread, but this is my personal experience. Its definately best to just call the DMV and check.
