HELP: Swapped F20C for F22C. Heater doesnt work and overheats car when turned on.
Can someone confirm that the F22C water hoses fit in the same location as the F20C?
After the engine install I'm not getting the heater to work, it blows cold and the car overheats when the heater is turned on while the car is running.
I hope this isnt the freaking Heater Core! I have bled the coolant system 3 times already.
Thanks for any help.

Ok here is what happened:
After the install the car ran fine and so did the coolant system.
It recently turned cold here and I turned the heater on while driving the car's temperature ran up real high and wanted to overheat so I pulled over and let the car cool down by turning the A/C system on which worked.
The Resevoir tank was overflowing and shot fluid out from the tank.
It's as if the fluid isn't flowing properly somehow or another when the heat is on.

You reversed one of the heater hose fittings. Check the diagram. The 2 aluminum hoses thats mounted on the firewall behind the motor, they flow opposite ways. Check the diagram, maybe you have them reversed.
GL with the swap.

^^^ lol reversed?

it shouldve over heat from day one then if it was reversed ...

The valve doesn't open for fluid to run through the hoses until he turns on the heater. He states it doesn't overheat until he turns it on. 1+1 = ?
I know its a possibility to reverse those hoses when you put in the motor, because I almost did it myself. Lucky I had a service manual.
Be nice Oz.

The coolant line through the heating system is a loop. If you reverse that loop, you're trying to pump fluid into the outlet of the thermostat. Check that also.

then it woulve over heat from the day one he started that car, dontchu think?

No it wouldn't because the heating valve was closed, so essentially there was nothing dumping into the thermostat. It is not the only outlet there btw.
Turned on heater, coolant is flowing, hits a wall, stresses the water pump, overheats.
Don't make it difficult Oz.

i have no idea what you just said ... do you even know how the plumbing cycle go? when the water warms up to certain degrees, the thermostat opens...the coolant is always circulating through the system (even to the heater core) as long as the thermostat is open ... the switch is ONLY to control the fan ...
Um.. that doesn't control the fan, it opens the line into the cabin and HVAC unit. I know the plumbing, I've fucked with it through 2 motorswaps already.
So what do you think it is Oz? You haven't even recommended a solution. All you did was come here challenge my recommendations for him. I didn't say I was right, I said that could be it, because those hoses are so near each other and in weird shapes that it's easy to reverse them accidentally.
So I'm waiting to hear your suggestions. You should be done researching the internet by the time I get back from the shop. Have fun.

the **** that has red/blue that controls the "door" for heat or cold broke .. its cable operated and got stuck closed for heat to blows out ... thats why when he turns on the heater still blows cold air ... and ders no vent for the water core that why it overheats
... i could be wrong, but thats what i think it is

I'll double check the hoses.
i do have the service manual and it does look correct. I was thinking maybe the lines for the F22 and F20 were different but I guess not, since I had hte F20 manual no the F22 one.
Thanks for the arguing. I mean help.
I'll let everyone know what it is as soon as I fix it. I dont think its the **** idea though since how can that thing break when it wasnt even touched.

I checked the switch and it is on the ON position for the coolant to run through.
I will take the systems apart Saturday and run water through to see what is causing the water to be blocked, that seems to be the main problem.
There is one hose at the bottom that is not heating up so I feel that water isn't going through there when the heat is turned on.
Wish me luck.
