Omnipower Coilovers Thump noise... anyone fix?
Ive got the omnipower full street coilovers on my car and ever since I got them Ive heard loud thuds coming from the rear. Everything is tightened down and i even sent them back to omni to inspect. im still hearing the noise. its annoying as hell and one reason why i might be switching to a different suspension.
However, i was just wondering if anyone has been able to remedy this problem. i know ive read other people having the same problem.

you think your wheel might be hitting the fender?? I was thinking the same thing you were when i had my suspension setup. I just had someone move the car up and down. If it aint that you should check out the bushings.
when does this thud happen? Is it on rebound? You might be hearing the piston slamming back into position on rebound and hitting the top of the cylinder. I know of another brand of shocks that does this. If this is the case you might try spring tenders to get the piston to float just below the top of its travel.

I roll the slip overs, and sometimes i hear a loud thump on rebound from my left rear. I thought that it had to do with weight, but with four people in the car it still does it. i was thinking that it might be the spring un-seating and then slapping back into place, but i have no way to know cuz i cant see back there while im driving.

Did you set the preload on the springs properly? I just did a full omni install this weekend for a friend, forgot to set the preload on the drivers front. Had the same noise coming from the coil over as you are describing. It was the spring coming unseated on extension and slamming back into place.

I had this problem w/ springs. It ended up being the Shock was not bolted down under the hood, and was taking no absorbment. It was just slamming down on the spring. All fixed now though

I installed the omni coilovers and have a thud also. It's only in one, the rear passanger side. My thud seem to happen on compression, but sometime is sounds like it's on the rebound also. Sometimes it sounds like a long screw scaping it's threads on a piece of metal. It also seems to be worst early in the morning when it's cold. 45 - 50 degrees, cold for SoCal
. I'm thinking of switching my rear around to see if the sound shifts to the drivers side. That way I'll know if it's the coilover or something else. We'll see.

What about a coil over where the spring is pre-loaded? With my wheel in the air up on jack stands I can't rotate my springs, yet I have a thud both at compression and rebound. Not only that, but it sometimes sounds like a bolt sliding up and down rubbing against the threads. Now before someone asks if everything is tight, I've double checked everything.
