Default Hawaii Neptune Tuners???

Are there any Tuners in Hawaii that can tune with Neptune? If so, who and where can I find them? If not, what do tuners in Hawaii use or what works best?

I'm from the Windward side of Oahu. I've been living in the mainland for a little while to finish up school but my wife and I are planning to move back this December. I have a Turbocharged civic coupe which is tuned using Neptune. I know i'll need a re-tune when I move back to Hawaii because of the elevation and humidity difference.

Please help so i can make some decisions before the move. Advice or any tips on tuning for Hawaii would also be appreciated.

Thanks

When you get there put the car on the dyno to check AF's and see IF anything has changed. You would be suprised how well the factory ecu works. If it has changed from its original tune then contact your Neptuner and email him your dynograph with AF's and he should be able to send you a new chip with the adjustments needed.

Thanks! Would I need to send the chip I have now or will the tuner just send me a new chip for the updated tune?

Do you know about how much that would cost? And can it really be an accurate tune without the tuner having the actual car there to work with?

That sounds great, I'm really excited to hear that! Do you know when in 2006 yet and where your location will be?

If you're opening up your shop early 2006, that would be perfect. Thanks for the info!!

off topic, but where do you guys go in hawaii to even get on the car and have fun. When i was there, i seemed to cover the island in no time and always was in congested traffic. I assume there must be a large tuner scene over there for all the fast cars that seem to be coming out.

also, how much does it cost to transport a car from the mainland over to hawaii?

/off topic banter

yeah there is a lot of traffic, but on the west side of the island there are large open highways and freeways. especially late at night, the traffic isn't too bad.

The tuner scene is huge.

Shipping a car with Matson from Longbeach or Oakland California to Hawaii costs $899. That's from port to port.

one of my friends shipped his car via air to LAX it was only 1200, took 2 days, it goes on a pallet so no one drives it. pretty good way to transport cars like these. FWIW its 900$ to ship a car from NJ to AZ, so all in all its a pretty good deal

I don't think theres any neptune tuners in hawaii but i think most hawaii guys use either autronic or hondata. For autronic, Izumi Racecraft is the distibutor and tuner. He tuned the quickest honda street car here which went 10.02, and the fastest honda which went 151 mph. For hondata, there two tuners here in hawaii, one on the big island and one on Oahu. If you go to hondata's website it gives the numbers to both shops.

I want to neptune my car in the future too, I've been reading only good things about it. Let me know when it opens up so I can ship my car to Oahu to get tuned.

I wish I knew about that shipping deal. I shipped my NSX from California to Maui via Dependable Auto Shippers and it costed me like $1400 I think. It took about 2 weeks.

Autronic is a math-based standalone ECU. Its interesting, but much more work and expense than a Neptune system running on a honda ECU. Making a wire harness is a pain. Plug and Play is SOOOOO nice

You'd spend weeks tuning an Autronic, or any true standalone system, before you could make it run and drive as smooth as NepTune. You can't beat a honda based ecu for a street car. Honda has thousands of hours developing that ecu and making the car run perfect in all conditions.

yea autronic sucks, i get my car tuned perfect in 20 minutes, several customer cars in under 45 mins on the fly. Ray Hall, Ben Strader, Sean Powers dont know very much, and have terrible customer support, NOT. i had nothing but positive things from those people and my overpriced piece of junk autronic PnP

take a few hours to wire a universal autronic unit, you can make your own custom harness and wire tuck the hell out of the car, and keep your engine on the very minimum sensors, etc and keep it clean and bare empty as hell

Trust me, i have plenty of experience with Autronic. I don't care who you are, you can NOT make a car run as smooth as a factory ecu in all conditions in 45min. If you can, then your idea of "right" is "wrong". I'm not going to get into other people's opinions of it. I'm not saying it's total crap, but it doesn't have thousands of hours behind designing it to work with a honda motor.

How well does your idle control motor work with the PnP?

lol @ the idle motor comment. the pnp is nice to not have to require, but unplugging a IACV and cracking open the trottlebody has always seemed half *** for a system that cost 1800.

then again, i run hondata which was like 400 bucks.
