Default i cant find whats wrong w/ my civic, any help out there?

ok, i recently got this noise (on my left side front) that sounds like something is flapping or tapping. now, my inner joint on my left axle was broken so i replaced it today and the noise is still there. this noise usually occurs around 35 - 45 mph or right as i come to a complete stop (but very faintly). i checked my brake pads and there fine, they still look brand new. the only thing that concerns me is there is alittle play (after i bolted it down) between the caliper and the pads. i mean to the point that i can shake it alittle. can my caliper be the problem? my car is also lowered on stock struts, can it be that? i checked everything on my suspension and everything is tight and sturdy, i just dont know what to do?

if there's any one out there like me, i can't rest until everything on my civic is running the way it's supposed to be! SO PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!

oh, by the way its a 1993 dx w/ B16A, on stock brakes. and yes before anyone flames me, i know i have to do a brake swap, just waiting to find a set of rims bigger than my steelies and to have my own garage.

I know this might sound stupid but, check your license plates and make sure they are tight. I had this problem once and it drove me off the walls. Like stated above make sure your fender well cover is on securely, they may be missing some clips.

yeah theres one about 1/2 hour from where i live, but the honda/acuras that are there get stripped to the bone, and the owner never gives a straight answer when he's going to get more, so basically its a hit - n - miss situation. what are you suggesting that i pull and replace my caliper?
