could cold keep my car from starting?
weirdest thing happened this morning...its freezing cold out for the first time this year...i went to turn it over...and nothing...almost like the battery was dead...but it wasnt everything was on and working normally...not even a click...i pushed it out of the spot i was in...tried to start it again and nothing...i used to have this problem with my galant vr4 and what i had to do was cycle the key and it would start...so i tried that and still nothing...finally after looking under the hood and checking connections...i sat back in my car totally lost...and for ***** i turned it over again and it started...what in the hell would cause that?
Was the starter not even cranking? Sometimes starters will do that in the cold weather when they are on their way out. Next time that happens, hit the end of the starter with a hammer. If the car starts after that, then that's your problem.
Rather than buy a new/remanufactured starter, there's a link here that shows you how to rebuild it with Toyota parts cheaper. Lemme find it.
EDIT: Check out BSQ's post about halfway down the page

Yeah, that's what I meant. When the starter is about to go, it won't do anything. You turn the key and ..... silence.
