RSX Intakes Comparison
Ok, I hear the CAI make the most HP of the intakes, but are there any advantages of the short ram? Are there any companies that make intakes with a kind-of air box to keep the heat out? (anyone modify the stock air box???) Are there any differences with the brands?
-AEM
-Injen
-Weapon R
-Volant
-K & N
Oh, FYI, 05' base model RSX

Short ram has only two advantages over a CAI. Throttle response. Due to the shorter tube length a short ram intake has quicker response.
Second it is basically impossible to hydrolock a SRI.
A SRI has problems with heatsoak. Due to its positioning of the filter really close to the engine it absorbs heat. This kills power after a couple runs at the track or basically when the engine gets hot. Forget about summer days, we all know how Hondas react to heat.
But the CAI intake has no issues with heatsoak and outperforms a SRI drastically. But hydrolock is an issue with a CAI. Just be careful in the rain and you will be fine. I would suggest a CAI.
I would also recommend either Injen or AEM. Now Injen is your better bet. It comes with a new windshield washer bottle that cuts the installation time down a lot. Both AEM and Injen are going to provide very similar gains.
AEM on the other hand does not come with this new windshield washer bottle. Therefore you have to remove your front bumper, relocate your stock bottle and extend the lines. Its pretty much a pain in the ***.
I would again choose the Injen CAI.

The Injen R&D intake yields the most power for the amount you pay. And since you live in CA, there is a very low chance that you will hydrolock since it does not rain that much over there.
I would go with either AEM or injen. Typically Injen is a much better show piece, gains hp, and the fact that it has a new windshield washer bottle helps out a lot. But the Injen is typically more expensive.
AEM is typically the same, not so much a show piece but still frees up some HP. It is cheaper than Injen but like stated before, a PITA to relocate the bottle.
Both are CARB certified which is a big
here in cali.
Really up to you what you want. Look out for deals and such.

u should be surprised. last winter(which wasnt even affected by el nino) my car basically flooded. my carpets and everything got wet. my expensive college text books on my floor got soaked and basically destroyed. i was glad i had a top mount turbo manifold. if i had a cai, i would be sure that i would of had hydrolocked. it got soo bad i couldnt see anything cause soo much water was dropping down at one point. this was in a 93 prelude btw.
