Default Question about my *stock* cam timing after valve adjustment...somethin's off?

I just finished doing a valve adjustment on 231, and I had a small concern about my cam gear timing. I have OEM cam gears, and I have never had anything else. The timing should be completely stock. However, when I set the #1 cylinder at TDC, with the "UP" marks on both gears facing up, my crank marks don't line up properly (close, but visually off) with the oil pump mark, and the cam gear marks that should line up in the middle of the gears is off by a tooth. If I set the middle marks such that they line up, the "UP" markers are just off (toward the front of the car, just a tad, but visually clear). Should I be concerned about this?

Remember to set TDC on number one you need to line up the white mark on pulley to the timing cover then the 2 marks on the pulleys should be aligned ok. And the up marks won't look perfect but close enough so you can read them so you know your not 180 off.

That's normal. When the TDC marks point at each other, the up arrows will be slightly towards the exhaust manifold and not directly up.

I would be concerned if when the TDC marks point each other and the crank pulley doesn't line up...is this the case?

So which is more important, if everything doesn't line up...having the crank pulley mark line up with the oil pump mark for TDC at 1, or having both "UP" marks straight up? I used the "UP" markers straight up. Does it need to be redone with the crank pulley lined up instead?

No you don't have to redo it. As long as the valves were fully closed for that particular cylinder when you did the valve adjustment then it should be fine....you don't need to be that accurate (in terms of valve adjustment) or else they would have put 4 TDC marks on each cam gear instead of just 2.

TDC marks for cylinder 1 pointing each other on the cam gears and white mark on crank pulley lining up with the timing belt cover mark <---- this is the correct cam gear timing for your car...someone back me up on this?

-Tommy who is NOT a Honda technician...but has confidence in what he just wrote or else someone would have told me to shut up already
