Default Whats this EVAP canister for??

Ok Im just curious, you know that balck EVAP/Charcoal Canister located in 92-95 (prolly a lot more too) civics? The black canister thats just ot the right and down of the battery?

What the hell does that thing do? Is it needed? I have a few sensors connected to vac lines coming from it, but i never really knew what it does... Is it just from emissions?

Thanks for any insight! I just like to know how EVERYTHING works on the car

Its for emissions. What it does is take all the vapers/excess pressure from the fuel tank and cycles it in there, then the vaccum source sucks it into the motor.

Its not relaly needed but if you take it out your going to want to run a hose back somewhere away from you so you dont smell gas fumes.

Some people just cut the hardline right at the fuel tank so it goes out there.

Ive seen some "tucked" engine bays and what the guy did (since he had no a/c the loser) he put the EVAP on the inside of the car and sealed all the connections really well.
