front AND REAR race seats??
I wanna put 2 Recaros up front and also wanna (somehow) put 2 race seats(bucket style with some big side bolsters and harnesses) in the back of my eg. Has it been done before?? I know that about 65-70% of everyone guts the interior for weight savings but Im a lil different. I am building this car as a toy that my friends and I can all ride in and enjoy the performance. The car already handles and accelerates (brakes are next) great but the problem is in the back seat. Last nite I took some friends of mine down a curvy road just for kicks and it was fun, but I noticed 2 heads appearing and disappearing from right to left & vice-versa as we took the turns.
I know Im gonna have an issue with the height of the seat going over the gas tank hump but hopefully I can find a seat with a shorter seat back. Has anyone ever seen this done?? Photo-chop??

Hmmm... I've never seen it done before in a Civic, but I have seen it in other cars.
If I were you I'd get matching seats front and back. Maybe not the exact same seats, but the same brand and color.
You wouldn't have to get sliders for them so the only challange would be figuring out a way to bolt them to the floor. Probably wouldn't be that hard to pull off.
I know Corbeau sells some low back seats that are really cheap. I don't know about other brands though.

to make the seats work in a civic you would prob have to drop the gas tank and lower that section of the floor. Other wise you could just bolt them on top of the gas tank and they would touch the roof of your car
. Maybe a custom shop could make you some bucket style seats with lower head rest.

with either of these, you can't use the back seats.
I don't see why you couldn't just get the seats and just drill holes and bolt them directly to the metal.

Ive thought about both of those problems. Im pretty sure theres enough clearance between the tank and the metal underneath the rear seats. My only concern is that I think I'll have to weld some bracing under that to support the weight (multiplyed by the way by g-forces) of the rear seat occupants. That metal is pretty thin and Id hate to sling someone crashing through the rear side windows.

) There is not enough clearance. Your gonna have to get a fuel cell and drop the flooring. Not something in my near future , but I will probably do it.
Pics if YOU do it!

Im talking about maybe......1/4 of an inch of clearance. Just enough to put a bolt-head in. Theres not enough clearance for that?

Do you guys think I would come out better by just welding a bracket to the top of the.......um...lets call it the rear seat hump i guess.

Oh yeah, I c what u mean.

Well for the rear seats your probably gonna use non-adjustables. So you could always weld side mounts to the flooring. HAHAHA! You had the same idea I did!^^^^^^^

Thats what they used before they were using sliders in cars. It's a permenent mounting setup used in actual race cars.

LoL. "Actual race cars" huh? It's just a different mounting style. A lot of racecars use bottom mounts as well.
And you can attach sliders to come side mounts. They aren't all permanent.
Side mount just means that the brackets mount onto the sides of the seat and not the bottom.

http://sparcousa.com/pseats_acc.asp?id=152 Here. I know what you mean. But nobody used to use the sliders. Till they realizes it would make racing seats in a street car more fun. Most of the time they would make their own sliders.

Got any pics of them or maybe a link to where I can buy some?? The rear passengers will just have to be S.O.L. when it comes to seat adjustment. I want them to be planted, not comfortable!!
