Put that in Google and got this. Eveidently they're convex so you can see a wide angle. They're also pretty ugly if you ask me.

The city averaged 80 killings a year since 1980.

Some would say the same about not having mirrors in general.

I don't use mirrors, and I feel safer that way. You've got to look away from the road and refocus your eyes to figure out what's in your mirrors to use them effectively, even if it only takes a second... and you're not exactly getting IMAX quality. It takes me the same amount of time to get a quick glance behind me that it does to use a mirror and I feel that I'm getting a much more accurate picture.
I have never felt at risk without them, nor have I felt that I don't know what's going on behind me. If you're decently situationally aware then you won't have a big problem... I rode my father's bike, which still does have mirrors, and it was really just a big distraction from what was ahead of me.
To pass inspection, though, I'll get one of the CRG bar ends.

I took off my factory mirrors and put on one crg bar end mirror on my left side. I don't use mirrors because it can make me lazy. I always look over my shoulders. Also, sometimes, carving canyons, glancing down at your mirrors, to see how your mates are doing can disorientate you.
while all this is absolutely true, I can not live in california traffic without them... I feel naked without the ability to GLANCE and get positions of cars and object around me. they help me plan my direction of movement and more than once saved my life! literally, splitting lanes to just outpace a car that had not slowed in time.

You have to refocus or it could make you lazy? That sounds like a bunch of the same mumbo jumbo people say about not wearing a seatbelt in the car. Do you guys not use mirrors in a cage because it might make you lazy or you have to refocus on it? I learned how to do both fairly efficiently when I learned to drive a car as a teenager... do you guys have some sort of learning disability or something?
Turning your head is all well and good but can you see your 6 without mirrors? Unless you're some sort of yoga guru, I highly doubt it. I guess I'm just more into watching who is barreling down on me at a red light and I don't think you can do that effectively without mirrors.
During lane changes I do both... look in the mirror and turn my head... just like in my cage.
