Default Rear strut installed

Just installed a cusco CF rear strut bar on my R.
Jus wondering if it's bad not to replace the plastic covers over the strut towers?
A mate of mine told me to put back on the plastic covers as particles can get into the shock absorber thus affecting the absorber itself
please help guys

Not at all.

There's no truth to this at all. Think of all the debris that comes in contact with the shocks in the fenderwells.

Just trim your plastic with a Dremel so that the covers will fit in their original spots.

This seems to imply that there is risk to leaving the covers off, which is not true.
