probably get a really nice JDM b16a tranny with the LSD option for under that 1k that the dealer wants..shipping might be a biatch..but if LSD isnt a need..just get the tranny....or..get a gsr tranny and boost or motor...OR...just use the money to rebuild your tranny with your desired gears..OR..eat mcdonalds
What exactly is wrong with your transmission that it requires a replacement? I'm in the process of rebuilding mine with new bearings, a new fifth gear, and LSD. It's almost as much as a used tranny but at least I know what's NOT wrong with it.
I'd hate to purchase a used tranny and diagnose/repair any problems it may have.

Si trannies are not THAT reliable, but a lot of it depends on driving style/ability.
Anyways, to repair the 3rd/4th gear, the synchros are on the same synchro sleeve on the mainshaft and if that's all you're planning to replace, you're looking at about $200 or so.
And if you want one, you can find an OEM LSD for about $300-400. It's gonna end up being slightly more than a new transmission but at least you already know what problems your particular transnmission has or doesn't have.
I got mine here:

To answer your question any B-series transmission should work (Hydro Tranny from 00 Civic Si, 94-97 Del Sol VTEC, any 94-01 Integra)
But I wouldn't recommend mating the B16 with anything besides a B16 (99-00 Si, Del Sol VTEC) or ITR trans

Actually no, you have to get an ITR or CTR ring and pinion.
Although I have been talking to the guy and he was expecting a JDM SiR LSD from an EK or an EG which use the same ring gear as a USDM S4C.

go with a GS-R tranny much more realible then the b16 my tranny did the same 2nd and 3rd gone but just get a JDM gs-r tranny with lsd for like idk a little over 1k
I'm borrowing a GS-R tranny right now with my B16A and I wouldn't recommend it. 2nd through 5th are too tall for this engine's powerband.

Replacing synchros at a professional is a lot more than what people think.
I suggest buying one used from a reputable seller, or buying a fresh brand new one from Honda.
Multi synchros can add up to half the amount of a brand new one.
And to answer your question, all B series is all gravy, they do differ in gear ratios however.
