Default Could this best case scenario ever be a reality? (Roll bar Q)

Would love to get an S2K for a track car/daily driver. Need a roll bar to do track events, don't want think tubular steel inches from my head on the street. I'm 6'1" so I'm not short enough to avoid being near the bar.

Soooooo, the elda bar looks like a PITA to remove, is there any removable option? To add to the complication, I'd want a hard top as well, I imagine that would have to come off obviously to get the bar out, if getting the bar out is a possibility. . .??? ???

Go to Cody@LoveFab, ask for his 4pt. It doesn't sit over your head, but over the OEM roll hoops instead.

there is a big difference between a roll bar and a roll cage.... with a roll bar you shouldn't have any problems hitting your head on it, since it is behind your seat and all..... now a roll cage, you will have issues...

HPDE, Track masters, PDA, etc. . .track days but all the tracks up here in the northeast require mandatory roll bars for convertables, it's not the sactioning body, its the track.

Do you or anyone have pics of this? This is a roll bar, not cage right? Can you still get the soft top up?

The elda bar will be your best bet. You shouldn't have an issue of hitting it with your head, even with your height. The elda bar will work with a hardtop. Now for you to remove it, its alot of work. I would say once its in, you leave it in unless you are selling it or getting a cage built.

Speedtrials here lets you run with the stock roll hoops, but driftdays require a homologated roll bar.

LoveFab's bar works with the softtop, and is meets NASA specs if its bolted down with 3/8" bolts if I remember right. Oh yea, say byebye to your OEM hoops.

Yea man that's what I mean. I'd stick to the stock hoops if I had a choice... Their 6-7pts have bends and bolts right over your head...

Sideways2000, that thing looks good, definitely farther back than the elda joint. Who needs the stock hoops when you have that thing anyways.

Two questions for you, 1) is everything you removed reversibe, ie. back to stock? 2) What is the cost of that lovefab piece?

Thx?

It bolts into the mounting points of the stock roll hoop, even though the holes will have to be enlarged for 3/8" bolts per NASA regs. If you want to put the stock hoops back in the future, you shouldn't drill out those holes; just use the stock bolts and hope they don't notice.

That's a pre-production piece, so I can't give out the price. Contact Cody and he will give you a definite price. His name here is "tinker219".

That also looks easily removable, but I guess that's not neccessary as that does look like it is far enough away from the egg shell we all call our skulls.

Umm, also, as I don't own an S2K yet, looking at that picture and imagining the car upsidedown, it seems like if the car is resting on the rollbar and the windshield, ones head would be compacted below that imaginary line . . .

Sorry for the worst care scenarios boys, wifes pregnant and I don't want to bastardize my child

Actually, in the event your car goes dirty side up, the windshield works with the roll hoops to become part of the rollover protection. There are people that have walked away from flips.

*sigh*

Wrap the bar with foam, wear a helmet.

Yup, the S2K is good for roll over protection even in stock form. I have seen 2 s2k's flipped over and resting only on the windshield. that piece is very very strong

the elda is a "job" to put in b/c it is functional, the crushco's are easy to put in b/c they don't do **** for you in a roll over. i love my elda bar. it is functional too. the powdercoat on mine is finely cracking from absorbing body roll.

unless you want to wait for elda's to be made again you'll have to get a custom set up. the lovefab looks pretty good. a buddy of mine is getting a custom roll bar installed by Piper Motorsports in Manassas, VA. so you have some options as long as the wallet allows
