Do you HAVE to get engine mounts to install a B16? or if you get an SiR hood will you not need them? Just wondering, I thought the main reason you need mounts is so the engine will clear the hood...

 

You need mounts. It's got nothing to do with the hood, the locations of the mounts are different and they're different sizes....
You have to throw down some cash for them....

 

You don't "need" mounts if you can weld or know someone that can weld very accurately. If you cut and weld the mounts in the correct position the stock mounts will work. I would personally save yourself some money in the long run and just get a mount kit. I have seen some very poor cut and weld jobs in the past.

i bought the HCP MOUNT KIT and it fit fine and i have other friends using the HCP MOUNT KIT and it is very soild and less expensive then HASPORTS...i got my hcp mount kit for $300.00

 

I also got the HCP kit. I got shift linkage from them as well. I paid 410 shipped to my door. THey are made well, and in my own opinion, they are not as harsh as the Place setup. There IS a difference between mounts though. The place kit is damn near perfect. But they are more expensive as well. I had a tight budget.
