Default Hawaii, help with inspection

I just moved to Hawaii and my wife's car failed the safety inspection for window tint. The darkest it can be is 29 and hers is at 23 on the meter. Does anybody know where I can go to get it to pass? Thanks, Larry

Thanks, that was helpful. My kids ride in the car and the tint is for them more than anything else.

i know its bullshit, but when i was stationed a K-Bay my wife had stock tint from ford on her mustang and i had to remove it to meet their standards. but i couldnt find a place to let it go, unless you are cool with some of the locals you wont get no hook ups there.

try go to showroom shine in kaneohe ask for the guy who owns the detail shop dont go to the person who sells cars there the shop is next to yamashiro hardware store . nah hawaii is not to bad just they let people go with illigal tint etc... than the people who are giving out the inspection get busted then after that they dont let anyone sly

The cops are getting a lot more strict nowdays on this stuff...I'd say re-tint them. Mine are "legal" and they're dark enough.

As far as Hawaii's safety standards, they aren't that strict. Tint, turn signals, headlights, no CEL's, um front liscence plate, good tire tread. No need for emission testing, it's actually pretty minor...

My front ones on my truck are legal and they are not dark enough for me. I would redo them darker if I didn't have a fear of getting a ticket.

We're moving to Schofield inn today. Her car is a G6, I left my civic at home because nobody seemed to have any idea what was going on with the track over here and I'd heard horror stories about car theft. If we get a house with a garage and find out about the track I'll bring my civic over. Larry

wtf? are you guys serious about not knowing what recon is?

or are you playing with me haha.

if you don't have a recon sticker (looks like a safety check) then if you get pulled over, be prepared for a whirl of tickets (75 bucks PER violation).

i.e. rims bigger than stock, over 1-2", lic plate has to be 12" from the ground, middle of headlight needs to be 20 something inches off the ground.

i can't remember the exact specs but any gas station can tell you.

good luck

I've been told I've got to get a recon inspection on my Yukon because I have 20 inch rims on it. So far, Hawaii has been a major pain in the ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
