How to clean the engine bay?
what i did was spray everything down with engine degresaer...and while engine is hot....let sit for a bit...and spray off but not so hard on the electric parts... and turn out great !
im about to do this too. i think you should seran wrap all the electrical plugs and stuff. also use the hose with the filter so that ur engine bay doesnt dry up with white hard water stains.
hmmm... i'm a little wary of spraying water all over my baby's insides! i remember hearing somehere there was a foam you could spray on.
is this something a detailing shop would do?

All the electrical plugs are pretty much safe. What I do, is cover the dizzy and fuse box with a plastic grocery bag. Everything else doesn't normaly get hurt. I accidently sprayed my dizzy one time, then my car would miss its *** off, until I dried out the dizzy cap, then it was fine, so just cover up your dizzy, and you should be straight.

I used this meguir's shine and cleaner engine detailer and it is really good stuff. It degreases and shines everything at once. It leaves all smooth surfaces shiny. It scared me around the belts but I just didn't spray it on them. The block where there is a little oil leak needed some scrubbing but other than that it made the entire engine bay look like I waxed it. It shined like that for about 3 months until it got all rainy and water made it all spotty again. THe one thing I suggest though is not using it on a factory painted valve cover b/c it made the crinkle finish look kinda shiny but not, it didnt ruin it though, a few months later and it looks like original once again. THis stuff was real hard to find though, the only place around that had it was National Auto, only about $4 a can.
IMO i wouldnt let water touch the distributor nor any filters you have in the bay, also if youre running HIDs that arent water resistant covers those up as well. other than that have fun cleaning the heart of the car.
