I have a 89 accord and with timing set at tdc is correct at both marks. Yet when idling I get a horrible shaking that goes away at about 1800 rpms. I just replaced the head and have low but good compression. Around 140 to 150 depending on cylinder.
Spark is good. Valve adjustment is about to be done right now. How do I know if a valve is bent other than taking it out????
I can hear popping sounds coming from #4 cylinder if I touch gas at just the right time on idle. Does not happen always but sometimes and I think the valve might be hitting the piston.
Any help would be appreciated.

Oh yeah and with timing light the BTDC does look like around 4 degrees like manual states. Would I need to advance or retard this to adjust??? I just put a 5 sp tranny on it and the flywheel is on right so I know the marks and timing is correct as I have checked after running.
