I envy your ability to operate a gear box.

Those gear boxes are specially made for you to shift like that. Straight cut gears crazy Syncros. Even tought u need to use the clutch you can shove the shifter into the gears.

the gear box in the vid is just a normal box... no straight cut gears or anything..

just has a tilton attached to it.. so that helps..

They have straight cut gears AND synchros? That doesn't sound right.

what crazy synchros?

Aren't you eliminating the synchros when going to a straight gear gearbox?

Is it just me or is that guy's seat all over the place? I don't ever recall seeing a race seat moving that much from side to side.

agreed, it was my first observation. Also, it looks like he is fighting the car a bit... maybe needs to be dialed in a bit more?

Straighth cut gears and synchros don't go together. The straight box uses dog engagment rings on the end of the gear, way different than a cone synchro.

thats the point of the seat, it wont break but in an accident it will absorbe some of the enegry and not let it translate derictly to your body.

Cool video.

The seat did look like it was moving around a little too much for my taste. Maybe that's how it's designed, I don't know. I've just never seen a seat move that much.

Question for the driver; how did the seat feel?

That's kinda crazy how much it moves. Has to make driving the car much harder and is unsafe. Probably would fail the SCCA test.

I understand the point of an FIA seat, but if it is moving that much under cornering g's, I would suspect it would fail in a hard collision.

Edit: Should have made the above clearer. The seat is not the issue, it's the mounting. Thanks Eyal 951, you are correct.

i think its mounting hardware has loosened, or its mounted onto flimsy metal. No way such a nice recaro is that bad quality.

The tranny seems like it has a multiplate clutch in it, once we put a clutchmasters 2 disc in my bimmer you can shift like that if your fast enough. In the other video I have seen of that driver the seat moved the same way so who knows whats going on

Every Recaro I have sat in has been noticably more noodley than any Sparco I have used.

Just because a seat flexes alot does not mean it will break. (excluding the mounting hardware).

I have a bunch of Lhe's video's from more then a few different cars IRRC and all the seats do this.

I have a recaro spg but i don't have any incar to see if mine moves like this

I have never seen an in-car shot of any seat move this much. Anyone else?

I know that the glass or carbon buckets are supposed to flex as part of their function but this one seems excessive. Care to school me or some of the other comments that put this seat and its mounting into question, how is this good?

Like these:

I have a Momo Start and if mine moved that much I wouldn't be bringing these points up, but it doesn't flop around.

Leh commented a year or two ago that the GT3 Cup car seats are all like that.
