RED carbon fiber?
I saw a DA last night in my works parking lot that was a color like torino red with a lot of work on it (cf hood, kit, wheels, sparcos, custom door panels, etc). It was really clean too, I dont usually like kits but this car looked pretty good.
What caught my eye was the hood, from a distance i thought he either had hood pins in a stock hood, or in a painted cf hood, but when i got closer i saw that it looked like most carbon fiber but it was red, instead of black/grey. I'm thinking it might have just had a red clear coat or something sprayed on it... ayone else seen this?

They make different colors of carbon fiber where they take the grey and die it by some process. They have red, blue, and so on. It's nothing special you can buy them from VIS or any other carbon fiber maufactorer...just a little more expensive

You can not dye carbon fiber, It does not take, Any colors either have kevlar in them or fiberglass. Such as the silver carbon fiber which is not carbon fiber. It is fiberglass that has been aluminized. So people that have paid a lot for silver carbon fiber stuff you got ripped off because that fabric is so much cheaper then carbon fiber and they charge more. GTP I believe is getting sued for false advertisment saying it is carbon fiber.

almost word for word what i was going to say.
, dude.
as a note, any reputable company selling the color and carbon weave is usually advertizing it as carbon/kevlar, not colored carbon fiber. anybody advertizing colored carbon fiber doesn't know what they're talking about, and you should NEVER buy from somebody who doesn't know exactly what they're talking about unless you have their product in hand and know a lot about it.

The silver carbon fiber can also be SSG (Silver Strand Graphite). It's been used recently in RC car chassis'. They're about the same, but since aluminum is added to the graphite weaves, SSG can exhibit a little more flex than carbon fiber.
